    Don't bother!

Guide talked about himself, his filipino partner, his brother-in-law and very little about the history of Ketchikan, the bears and other wildlife. Saw one tamed deer. ave your money and do the "best of Sitka" tour where you are guaranteed to see black and brown bears, bald eagles and other raptors, and learn a lot about the history of Sitka.

    Short and not so sweet

Offered no water, young lady driver yawned all the way, said she had a late night. Very little commentary, raced straight to a vantage point to see a bear, luckily we saw one however the guide used the binoculars the whole time herself didn't offer anyone in the group she also had a spare set in her van but didn't offer those. Van was very dirty and instead of being 2.5 hours she took us straight back after we saw the bear, took us to a road side stream for photos as it was claimed to be a waterfall. One of the highlights was seeing the salmon ladder in Creek Street which anyone can walk to in 5 minutes.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that. You did not enjoy your experience with us, but I do want to clarify a few things for anyone reading this review. Your tour was a non-private tour, which is only two hours long. We do not provide snacks or bottled water on our non-private tours. Those Namese we provide our on private tours only. On occasion, if we do not have another tour immediately following, and everyone in the van is comfortable with it, our drivers may go a little over the schedule time as a courtesy. We also asked that people remember that our drivers work extremely hard throughout the summer, often working day after day without a day off. They genuinely care about giving our guest a great experience and do their best every single day. As for the stops, the waterfall is one of the places many of our guests absolutely love, and herring cove is specifically one of our favorite locations because it gives us opportunities to see salmon, bears, harbor, seals, eagles, and so much more. You were actually very fortunate to see a beer during your visit, as wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed. I also believe I offered you my binoculars when you were having difficult scene, but you declined. The other guest on the two or had their own binoculars. Regarding the comment about the van, our vans are cleaned and maintained regularly, so I’m not sure where that impression came from. And as for the comment about the driver, appearing tired, I believe that yawned, maybe three times during the whole tour. We are human, and after working long summer days, and occasional yawn can certainly happen, but that does not reflect the effort we put into our tours. We are genuinely sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. At the same time, it is important to clarify that the concerns mentioned in this review do not accurately reflect what was included with the tour you booked or the experience we strive to provide. We appreciate every guest who chooses to spend their time in Ketchikan with us, and we will continue working hard to provide the best experience possible.🩵☔️

Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours”: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ketchikan.

How much does Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours” cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ketchikan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours” take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ketchikan is not rushed.

Is Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours” worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ketchikan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours”?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours” suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours”?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ketchikan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ketchikan and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ketchikan Wildlife Tours “Over The Top Tours” start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ketchikan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ketchikan?

    +

Ketchikan runs short, cruise-timed excursions: Misty Fjords floatplane flights, Tongass rainforest zip lines, totem park tours, crab feasts and wildlife boats up the Behm Canal. On Outty we rank every Ketchikan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour, Off the Beaten Path Ketchikan Photo Safari - 3 hr., Ketchikan Shore Excursion: Rainforest Canopy Ropes and Zipline Adventure Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ketchikan?

    +

May to September, matching the Alaska cruise season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ketchikan?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
