Two floors of exhibits showcase the history and pageantry of the Kentucky Derby - from stunning fashions to Derby legends like Hall of Fame trainers and Triple Crown Winners. The 360-degree movie experience, "The Greatest Race," will be sure to get your heart racing and emotions soaring as you are immersed in the excitement of Derby Day. Projected with state-of-the-art laser technology, "The Greatest Race" puts you at the center of the action. Complete your visit with a Guided Track Visit on the grounds of historic Churchill Downs. Your Tour Guide will lead you to the rail of the legendary dirt track where every Derby winner has raced, from Aristides to 2026 Derby Winner, Golden Tempo. *Please note, you are welcome to visit anytime during the Museum's open hours on the date of your ticket, and you will be scheduled on the next available Guided Track Visit after your arrival at Kentucky Derby Museum.*

On live racing dates at Churchill Downs: Free Museum visitor parking in Black, Green, Orange, Yellow, & Turquoise lots off Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue in front of the Museum. The Red Lot closest to the Museum is available only on non-racing days. You may drop off guests in the round-a-bout in front of the Museum before parking.

Louisville landmark
I booked my visit on TripAdvisor and just had to show my virtual ticket at the entrance desk. The friendly person behind the desk gave me a map and information about the time and location of the included movie and tour. The displays in the museum were well presented with interesting information and visuals. There appeared to be some type of special activity for children to find information around the museum. The tour of the track was limited. We basically went out to the seating area by the rail of the track and had the chance to take pictures and ask questions and then back to the museum with some brief information stops on our walk there and back. You can’t go to the track area without the tour but if you want more you might want to consider one of the more in-depth options available that usually run in the early morning (might need to look on website for museum to see other options). The gift shop had a nice variety of items but the clothing was higher cost brands. I enjoyed the museum displays about the various workers at a track. Historical displays about horses and jockeys were available as well. Not a huge horse race fan myself so that is a factor in my rating. Visited mainly as a chance to see a landmark in Louisville. Parking was plentiful and easy in a large lot.

New Jersey Fans
So much more than people would think. Really well put together and so much to do! We arrived at 11 and stayed till cliosing. Learned so much about how it started and where the horses stay. Even how they are taken care of. Definitely want to come back to see a race!

Derby tour with Roxy
