What you'll see and do

  1. Nagarkot

At Nagarkot, travelers will experience one of the most famous viewpoints near Kathmandu, known for its wide Himalayan panorama. On clear days, you can see a stunning range of snow-capped peaks stretching across the horizon, including views toward Langtang, Ganesh Himal & even Mt. Everest in the distance. If you choose the sunrise option, you’ll watch the first light slowly illuminate the mountains, turning the sky shades of orange and gold. For sunset departures, the hills glow in warm evening light, offering perfect photo opportunities. Beyond the mountain views, Nagarkot offers peaceful hilltop surroundings away from the city noise. Guests can enjoy fresh air, relax at scenic viewpoints, take memorable photos, and spend quiet time appreciating the landscape. Your guide will explain the geography of the Himalayan range and point out major peaks, making the experience more meaningful. It’s a calm and refreshing stop that beautifully complements the cultural exploration of Bhaktapur.

  2. Bhaktapur Durbar Square

At Bhaktapur Durbar Square, travelers step into a beautifully preserved medieval city filled with temples, courtyards, and traditional Newari architecture. You’ll explore landmarks such as the 55-Window Palace, the Golden Gate, Vatsala Temple, and the impressive Nyatapola Temple rising above Taumadhi Square. The area is rich in art, wood carvings, and centuries-old stone sculptures that reflect the skill of local craftsmen. Your guide will share stories about the Malla kings, ancient rituals, and the cultural significance of the monuments you see. Beyond the major monuments, guests have time to walk through narrow brick lanes, observe local life, and visit small artisan shops known for pottery, woodwork, and handmade crafts. You may see potters shaping clay in Pottery Square or locals performing daily worship at neighborhood shrines. The atmosphere feels authentic and lively, offering a deeper look into Nepal’s heritage while still allowing time for photos and personal exploration.

Brilliant tour to Bhaktapur

Brilliant tour. Bikram Tamang was really knowledgeable both about Nepal’s past and presence, but also about the rest of the world. Great many thanks for the tour to Bikram and driver Soraj (although we couldn’t see Everest). I can definitely recommend the tour.

Recommended trip even if you don’t see the Himalayas peaks

We went to Nogarkot and were not lucky enough to see the peaks of the Himalayas. However, our guide Bikram took us to the hanging bridge which was a very nice surprise. We then visited Bhaktapur, which is more impressive than what you see in Katmandu. Bikram was kind and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions about life in Nepal, the country’s history and most importantly Hinduism. I highly recommend him along with the driver Krishna,. The car that we had for the trip was very good too.

Response from the operator: Dear Traveller, Namaste!!! We are very thank full for receiving such a wonderful compliment for us and our company and also thank you for appreciating our work. we are very happy to know you had an amazing experience of tour. Thank you very, very much for recommending Relax Getaways. Hope to see you again very soon. Kind Regards, Kushal Baniya Relax Getaways team

Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch cost?

+

Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 134 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch?

+

Around 47 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kathmandu Private Bhaktapur and Nagarkot Day Tour with Lunch start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
