    About this experience

Do you want to have a Private Tour for the History and Legends of Istanbul and have the chance to have a Personal Shopper in the Grand Bazaar? Instead of being only a guide to tell stories I am looking forward to add personal interactions to the tour and curate routes for your needs in the Grand Bazaar (only if you want to shop) In this tour everything is adjustable, we can add or remove the stops as you like. We will learn the unknown details hidden behind the walls: - Why only one Angel’s face is open but three other Angel’s faces are covered in Hagia Sophia? - Who was Istanbul’s secret Viking visitor and what did he leave as a note to us? - What is behind the walls of the Hippodrome? - Which door was made of Noah’s Ark? - Why there are more than 30.000 dead bodies under the main square of the city? - Which minaret was made of jewelry? All these questions and even more will be answered and covered with great storytelling.

    Excellent, personalized tour and guide!

My tour guide, Göcay, personalized my tour to cover sites I did not manage to see leading up to our day. We visited Balat and took the ferry over for a tour of the Asian side including Üsküdar and Çamlica Mosque. Gorgeous. After the ferry back, we had a delicious kebab meal and visited Galata Tower. Göcay is very knowledgeable and easy going. I learned so much and throughly enjoyed the views, walks, and conversations along the way. I highly recommend touring with Göcay. He is also very responsive and kept in close communication leading up to our tour. Istanbul is a beautiful, special city worthy of visiting again and again, especially with a tour guide like Göcay!

    Perfect day with Gokay!

Had the best tours with Gokay! The first day, he took me to the bazaar for a private tour. I enjoyed it so much, that I booked another tour with him with my husband. We moved at the pace we wanted, utilized public transportation to get around the city quickly, he picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. We picked out where we wanted to go and he planned the day. Great food and shopping. Definitely would book with him again. Very knowledgeable, punctual, and polite.

Very educational tour of the Old Town with a skilled and communicative very skilled guide

Gokay is a particularly fine guide who not only has excellent command of the English language but also has a wealth of historical knowledge. I love history myself and this tour went way beyond my expectations in terms of information, stories and his answers to my many questions. Because it was a private tour we also adjusted a bit at my request because I also wanted to look inside the Hagia Sophia, Extensive shopping is not spent on me so we therefore kept the time in the Grand Bazar a little shorter. Making the appointment yourself, on the recommendation of an acquaintance, went very smoothly and smoothly via Whatsapp. Clear time and an unmissable meeting point guaranteed a smooth start to the day. Definitely recommended this tour and guide.

Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.

How much does Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar cost?

    +

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.

Is Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Istanbul Private Old Town and Shopping Tour in Grand Bazaar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Istanbul?

    +

On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Istanbul?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Istanbul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
