Disapointing commission hungry guide
pros are beautiful mosques. cons are guide who was more interested in making commissions by directing us to his high end jewelers, rug dealers and handbag merchants in bazaar that was otherwise closed on Sunday. Yet claimed we didn't have enough time to see palace even though listed in itinerary.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful mosques and historic sites of Istanbul. We would also like to clarify a few points regarding your comments. The Grand Bazaar is included in our itinerary as one of Istanbul’s most famous landmarks. While the main bazaar building is closed on Sundays, many carpet shops, jewelry stores, souvenir shops, and local artisan boutiques located around and within the Grand Bazaar area remain open and continue to welcome visitors. Our guide simply followed the advertised itinerary and introduced guests to local Turkish handicrafts and cultural traditions. Regarding Topkapi Palace, visiting times may vary depending on crowds, traffic conditions, opening hours, and the pace of the group on the day of the tour. It was never our intention to omit any advertised highlight, and we regret if the schedule did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased that you enjoyed Istanbul’s magnificent mosques and the time spent with your guide. Your comments help us continue improving our tours and services.

Misleading tours
This tour says private car, but what this means is that its a taxi to and from hotel. It is not for you to go to each site with the car. The title and description is misleading. I booked this tour with my elderly mum and brother, due to my mother not being able to walk long distances and hills, we decided not to do the walking tour and do the private car tour. I reached out to the provider to ask what the tour includes exactly as it just gives me the itinerary of each place we're going, and not much more. The provider didn't reach out until about 10 hours before our tour (you can't cancel with less than 24 hours notice) and all they'd said was lunch and entrance tickets were not included. Our guide messaged to say he was at the hotel in the morning, once we got to our first site, which is literally a 2 minute drive and 5 minute walk from the hotel, the guide said that we would be walking to each site, after seeing the first site, we'd said that due to my mums mobility we would need to take the car, and that was why we booked the private car, he said that's not possible as the areas are restricted. Then he showed us the messages of him communicating with the tour provider asking why a car was included when everything is in walking distance and it doesn't make sense, the provider just said that's whats booked. As my mum had to walk to the next site, which is hills, her legs didn't manage it so we had to stop the tour. This was 1 hour into the tour. We then cancelled the tour with the guide, even he was shocked at how much we paid, over 290 pounds. I normally don't mind paying for the experience and have always used viator to book excursions and tours, but this i felt was disgusting by both the tour provider and viator, as when i reached out to them, they said the tour provider is refusing to give a refund and so they can't refund

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Istanbul: Private City Highlights Guided Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
