About this experience
Most tours focus on famous monuments, but this experience takes you where the city’s heart actually beats. We walk the places where you can capture the soul of Istanbul, guiding you beyond the beaten path to discover the authentic, gritty, and breathtaking corners that most travelers pass by. My goal is to place you in the exact spots where light, architecture, and local life converge to tell a story. Whether you’re shooting with a high-end DSLR or a smartphone, this tour is designed to be as unique as your photography style. We don't follow a fixed script; instead, we align the route with your specific interests. Before we meet, we discuss your goals—from street photography to architectural geometry—ensuring the journey matches your creative expectations. Guided by Kerem, a seasoned photographer with 15 years of experience, you’ll have a photographic muse offering expert insights to help you bridge the gap between a simple snapshot and a visual narrative.

This is the tour for Photographers
What an incredible time! I didn't want to just visit the standard 'tourist' locations and instead wanted to learn and see more of what the 'real Istanbul' was like and wanted to be able to capture that in my photos. Karem was knowledgeable and kind and not only helped me to take some incredible pictures but also helped me to understand the context and history behind the pictures. Coming to Istanbul is a 'once in a lifetime' adventure and I simply don't have enough time to figure out all of the amazing places and understand the history behind everything. Thankfully, I had a fantastic guide in Karem and I didn't have to as he took care of everything. Walking through the city with him and going through some of the neighborhoods is something that I could never have done by myself but I am so grateful to have been able to see it. I feel like I have a small understanding of what the life in Istanbul is really like, a unique mixture of old and new, of centuries and tomorrow and a blend of many cultures. To be able to capture even a small amount of that in my pictures is a gift and one that I can't recommend enough.

An excellent walk around.
An excellent walk around. Kerem took us on the metro and ferry to see some of the sights and places we would not have otherwise found.

Fantastic, Beyond Expectations - Kerem is an Amazing Guide!
Kerem was an amazing guide. Not only did he provide hands on photography training that will forever change how I will take photos, but the settings he chose allowed me to see and learn about parts of Istanbul I would never have known about. Kerem is incredibly knowledgable about Istanbul, and having worked in London, the Middle East and Africa, Kerem had many interesting stories and perspectives to share. Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had while visiting a new city. Thank you Kerem!!!

Kerem the magnificent!
Kerem was simply awesome. He was punctual to the minute! He rang me the day before to plan my experience. His knowledge of photography was vast. He had a friendly and supportive manner. He helped me push the boundaries such as approach and technique in street photography. It was a truly memorable day. I would definitely want to go out shooting with him again!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Istanbul Photography Tours: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Istanbul Photography Tours cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Istanbul Photography Tours take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Istanbul Photography Tours worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Istanbul Photography Tours?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Istanbul Photography Tours suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Istanbul Photography Tours?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Istanbul Photography Tours start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
