3. Venerable Patriarchal Church of St. George

   St. George’s Patriarchal Cathedral St. George’s Cathedral, located in the Fener district of Istanbul, has been the seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople since the early 17th century. It serves as the spiritual center of the Greek Orthodox Church. The cathedral features Byzantine and Ottoman-era architecture, a magnificent wooden iconostasis, and sacred relics, including those of Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Gregory the Theologian. It also houses the Column of Christ’s Flagellation, believed to be where Jesus was whipped. 4. St. Stephen Church (Iron Church) – A Unique Architectural Gem Welcome to St. Stephen Church, also known as the Iron Church, one of the most fascinating landmarks of Istanbul! This Bulgarian Orthodox church was built in the 19th century to serve the Bulgarian community in the city. Its construction was completed in 1898, during the Ottoman era. What makes this church unique is that it is made entirely of prefabricated cast iron panels, which were produced in Austria and then transported to Istanbul by ship. It is one of the few iron churches in the world and the only one that remains intact today.
