    Not what I expected

The crew of the toucan is fantastic. Very hospitable, fun, and they played great music the whole ride as we enjoyed the beatific views. If it wasn’t for them I would have rated this a terrible experience. The description provided in the what to expect section is inaccurate. First, there is a surprise $20 per person docking fee required to pay upon arrival. If you pay with credit card, there is a 10% fee so cash is preferable. There were no cookies and fruit as advertised so eat something before arrival, otherwise just beer and drinks offered. First stop was snorkeling. It was a crowded area with other boats and snorkelers, not too many fish. Next we went to the main area of the island where there were many cute shops and restaurants. Crew said lunch would be at the next stop but since it was afternoon and we skipped breakfast, we bought small bites there. Next stop was a secluded beach where a small buffet lunch was provided. This would not have been a lunch I would purchase, but there were no other restaurants or shops in this area and not a good swim location. On the trip back, I was informed that I owed $25/per person for lunch. I wasn’t prepared to pay another unexpected cost and the crew was respectful even though I declined to pay. This seems to be a problem with the agency misadvertising the cost and details of this trip so I feel badly that I can’t give a rave review just about the crew. I would have liked to have known these details and all the required costs that should have been included in the purchase price.

Response from the operator: Dear Michelle, thank you for your comments. We are very sorry to hear about your experience.. It seems that you expected to receive the Premium tour instead of the Basic one which you booked, as it does not include buffet lunch.. the dock tax is listed in the exclusions so that customers know that it needs to be paid in cash at the dock upon check in..

Snorkeling in Isla Mujeres (Toucan boat)

Five stars on tour, the guides who made up the crew very attentive and helpful at all times. My family and I had so much fun! Without a doubt the work of the photographer in particular was exceptional, we hope to come back soon.

Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por tus comentarios, apreciamos mucho tus palabras y estamos muy felices de saber que les gustó el tour . Los esperamos pronto Muchas gracias

Renee & crew made for a great time!!

We had a wonderful time onboard the catamaran! The trip to Isla was gorgeous and Renee and crew were so hospitable. Renee went out of his way to explain everything in English to us and was so friendly. The snorkel guide was friendly and actually explained what was going on. The snorkel it’s self was about 30 min, it was ok, plenty of time but wasn’t the best snorkeling we’ve done… No one’s fault, because the boat ride and Isla Mujeres were well worth the entire excursion regardless! Isla was cute and had so much shopping and things to do. We rode around on a golf cart which was fun and affordable! On the boat we had our pictures taken and they were AWESOME! Photographer took his time to pose us and print out beautiful pics! The crew will give you whatever you’d like to drink, just ask! We asked for shots and they were very generous! The boat ride is about 1 hr there and 1 hr back, and you have 3 hrs in Isla. Would recommend just because the hospitality was wonderful!

Response from the operator: Dear Robin, thank you very much for your preference and your comments about the service... This is what encourages us to keep the good job and work on correcting opportunity areas.. We look forward to seeing you again....

    Started rough but ended great!

This tour started out a bit rough. We weren't able to find the check in point due to construction. After a few phone calls to the tour director we were finally able to get to where we needed to go. It was a good thing we got there early! After that it was great! The crew were all very welcoming and accommodating. Us being English speaking only, they were very kind in making sure we understood everything. (It makes me want to learn Spanish! ) Unfortunately the wind was very strong and made it too choppy to snorkel, which was a bummer because that would have been the highlight, but you can't control mother nature! (If you get sea sick this might not be the best idea for you.) But they made the best of it with flowing drinks and great music. We even played a "guess the age of a crew member" game. The winner got a big bottle of tequila! Fun times. (I guessed 1 yr younger so I didn't win. Awe...) The food on Isla Mujeras was great too. Overall it was enjoyable to be out on the water. We have been on catamarans before and these guys were pretty close to the top. (Minus the misunderstanding in the beginning) You would have a good time with them for sure.

Response from the operator: Dear Corina, we appreciate your feedback,, it is very important for us so we can identify weak points and make the efforts to improve.. We are happy to read that after the difficult to find the meeting point, things got better and you consider this to be on the top of the catamaran tours you have taken, even though the wind was strong.. We look forward to seeing you again.. Best regards!

Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Isla Mujeres Basic Tour in Catamaran with Snorkel and Open Bar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
