About this experience
Curt’s tours of Dachau are unique. He will lead you through every building, explain the history of the camp and you will be transported back into the history of the time period. He has spent over a decade building intimate relationships with Dachau survivors, a number of whom have taken his tours. As he leads you through original structures including the bunker, crematorium and gas chamber, it is through their eyes, their remarkable stories that horrors of Dachau can be understood. He also helps guests understand the social and economic conditions in Germany that lead a population to support such a system of oppression. Curt Milburn has completed the course work offered by the Dachau Memorial Site and is a fully licensed and certified Dachau Guide. He is also a native of the US and has been touring in Munich for over twelve years. Curt is fully vaccinated.

Excellent Dachau private tour!
We, a family of 4, booked a private tour of Dachau. Curt was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history behind the rise of Nazi Germany. He adapted the tour to make it applicable to younger kids and adults alike. He also helped to prioritize the many exhibits throughout the site to highlight some of the most interesting aspects. We highly recommend booking with Curt and would not hesitate to take another tour with him! Thanks again!

Not "fun" but great day
This was our second tour with Curt. He was again punctual to the meeting point. He did an excellent job of explaining Dachau in a way that was clear, but not TOO heavy for my 13-year-old. It was a very solemn day. Curt had many resources, including survivor stories, that made the information engaging. I did wish that we had brought snacks, as it is a large property and you don't want to skip anything.

Highly recommend
We had an excellent experience with Big Hat Tours and our guide, Curt. His knowledge of Dachau’s history was truly exceptional, and he communicated everything with clarity, respect, and deep understanding. He handled the sensitivity of this difficult historical site with great care and professionalism. Highly recommend.

Tour of Dachau
Curt is very knowledgeable which made the tour great it is a difficult topic but he gave it the respect it deserves. He provided details from personal friends he has met along the way that made it that more real. This is an important tour if you are in the area and he is a great guide to lead you

Tour with Big Hat Tours to be educated and entertained!
I read many great reviews of Curt's tours before scheduling with him. My expectations were high, and he definitely exceeded them. We actually had a Munich/3rd Reich Tour and the Dachau tour with him. He personalized our Munich/3rd Reich tour to the interests of our group and educated and entertained 12 adults in their 30s and 60s. He has so many personal stories from doing exhaustive research on the history of WWII and Munich itself. Our group gave Curt the highest marks!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.
How much does In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour) cost?
+
Prices start at $210 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour) take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.
Is In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour)?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does In Depth Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (Private Tour) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Munich?
+
On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Munich?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Munich?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
