    Great wine tour

Despite it being a long day, the whole trip was great. We had an excellent guide. Winery hosts were knowledgeable and helpful.

Response from the operator: We're glad the long day was still worth while. Thank you for joining us!

Great tour despite the high price

This was an enjoyable and informative tour, with 2 good wineries and 1 not so great (based on the wine quality), as well as a gin tasting. I would recommend this to travellers looking for a trip without needing to worry about driving, making choices or getting lost. The tour guide and driver was excellent and I really appreciated her good nature, jokes and information throughout the tour. Price wise, this was a bit expensive, considering lunch is not included (the lunch: prices of lunches should be on the menu ahead of the trip). However, I still would recommend this!

Response from the operator: Thank you for the feedback and for joining us! We're glad you enjoyed nonetheless.

All Inclusive Hunter Valley Wine Tour - Good Driver, Three Advertised Inclusions Not Delivered!

Our driver for the day-long wine tasting tour was attentive, personable, and genuinely looked after the group's comfort throughout the day- this is worth acknowledging. The wine tastings themselves were also quite enjoyable. However, three inclusions explicitly listed on both the company's website and our booking confirmation email were not delivered. I am leaving this review so future guests can make an informed decision before paying A$259–299 per person. **What was advertised in writing:** - Wine + cheese paired tasting - Exclusive behind-the-scenes wine production tour - Lunch: Gourmet lunch of shared platters and seasonal dishes followed by a premium wine tasting at Brokenwood Wines **What we actually received:** 1. No cheese pairing - this did not happen at any of the three wineries visited. 2. No behind-the-scenes wine production tour - this was listed as an exclusive inclusion and was not part of the day at any point. 3. Lunch at Brokenwood was a single cheese platter per person, and nothing else. Our group had started at 7:30am, with only a brief sandwich breakfast at the first stop. When we raised the inadequacy of the lunch with the venue manager at Brokenwood, we were told directly that Colourful Collective had contracted only a 'grazing menu' with them - not a gourmet lunch of shared platters and seasonal dishes as advertised. This is the venue's own characterisation of what was booked on our behalf, not our interpretation. I have attached a screenshot of the booking confirmation email showing the exact inclusions as represented by Colourful Collective at the time of purchase. To be clear: the issue is not the quality of what was delivered on the day. The issue is that paying guests were charged for a specific set of inclusions that were not honoured, and in the case of the lunch, the shortfall was independently confirmed by the venue itself. Prospective guests should ask for written confirmation of exactly what 'cheese pairing,' 'behind-the-scenes tour,' and 'lunch' mean in practice before booking. Colourful Collective should reconcile their advertised inclusions with what they actually contract from venues.

Response from the operator: Hi, as we explained on another platform where you left the same review, there were discrepancies due to a transition to new experiences / venues and it took Viator 10 days to make the requested amendments. You have not contacted us directly and as you post reviews under a pseudonym we have no idea who you are or what date you travelled with us. So we're sorry the tour was not as we promised, but we can assure our future customers that we have been in business for 28+ years by doing our best to deliver wonderful experiences.

Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney cost?

    +

Prices start at $167 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 317 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney?

    +

Around 111 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
