About this experience
Enjoy a hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe. Go inside Arrábida Natural Park and take a long walk into the remote lands of "Serra do Risco". A place characterized by a landscape with a strong character. The walk is done along the top of the mountain that looks like a wave that advances impetuosly and is suddenly cut off and sculpted in the air, it is a wave of stone and scrub, it is the fossil of a wave.

Great experience to get with nature and your body
I have done several nice hikes. Mt Carmel, some in HK, others in the west of USA. this was a different experience with a very skilled and knowledgeable guide. it was fantastic to walk the full ridge ...nothing too dangerous nothing to hard. a real nice view. good company. get out of the city and see some more of the beauty of Portugal. also. NO CROWDS
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful review. As the CEO and Founder of Look Around Tours, and the guide who had the pleasure of hiking the ridge with you, this one means a lot to me. Having explored trails in places like Mount Carmel, Hong Kong and the western United States, you brought a great perspective to this experience. I’m especially happy that you enjoyed the full ridge — challenging enough to feel like an adventure, but without unnecessary difficulty or danger. For me, the real beauty of this hike is exactly what you described: leaving the city behind, walking through the wild landscape of Arrábida, enjoying the views and good company, and discovering a side of Portugal that most visitors never see. And yes… NO CROWDS is one of our favourite features. 😉 It was a pleasure hiking with you. Thank you for trusting me and Look Around Tours with your experience in Arrábida. I hope the ridge stays in your memories for a long time. Marquês CEO & Founder — Look Around Tours

Unbeatable time in Portugal
What an amazing experience! Andre is beyond passionate about the trail he has created to be enjoyed! The scenery is beautiful and the serenity you experience when you are able to reach the top is unbeatable! Andre contacted us the day before to let us know that Antonio would be picking us up in Lisbon, and he was right on time the next morning. He also let us know that he recommended we wear long pants. I am so happy we heeded his warning as there are many spikey bushes along the path and I can't imagine making it through without them! This hike is not for beginners but if you are an experienced hiker I highly recommend this trip! Another tip he gave us was to bring water. While this was already in our plans, I am happy we did! This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. At the beginning and the end of the hike we stopped with Andre and Antonio at a local café. The café was so charming we felt as if we were being welcomed into someone's home. If you are looking to connect with nature and be lead to some amazing views by a wonderful guide I cannot recommend this trip enough! Great conversation and an unforgettable experience!
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for your incredible review! It was a real pleasure to share this adventure with you. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed not only the trail and the views, but also the whole experience—from António's pickup in Lisbon to our stops at the local café. Those little moments are an important part of the day and I'm glad they made you feel so welcome. You definitely made the right call with the long pants and plenty of water! The trail can be challenging, but that's also what makes reaching the summit so rewarding. It's always great to guide people who appreciate nature, embrace the adventure, and enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Thank you for your kind words about my passion for this place. It truly means a lot, and sharing this hidden corner of Portugal with guests like you is the best part of what I do. I hope our paths cross again someday. Until then, safe travels and thank you for making this hike such a memorable day for me as well! — André

Amazing Tour
This cliff hike was hands down one of the most unforgettable things I’ve ever done. Anyone coming to Lisbon HAS to do this – but be warned, it’s not for beginners. It’s tricky, challenging, and will definitely push you to your limits, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. Andre, the guide, truly makes it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. He creates such an amazing atmosphere while making sure you feel safe and supported the entire time. The views are just unreal – every step is worth it. Just make sure to stay focused, be careful, and really take it all in. Feel it, live it. I’d do this again anytime without hesitation. 🔥
Response from the operator: That’s exactly the kind of experience we set out to create — something that stays with you long after the hike is over. As the founder, reading this is incredibly rewarding. We don’t design these routes to be easy — we design them to be real. Raw landscapes, genuine challenge, and moments that actually move you. And it means a lot to know that came through. Now speaking as André… I remember your energy out there — you embraced every step of it, even the tougher sections. That’s the difference. This hike gives back exactly what you put into it, and you showed up fully for it. My goal is always the same: create a space where people feel both the thrill and the safety to go beyond what they thought they could handle. The cliffs, the exposure, the silence, the views — it’s intense, but that’s where the magic is. Really glad you trusted me with that experience. Next time… we push it even further. 🔥

This hike is no joke - 12...
This hike is no joke - 12 km/ 7.2 miles most of which goes through very dense brush flanking a very narrow and mostly unmarked path. As someone who has hiked a lot across the world, the elevation gain and even total distance wasn’t so much the issue as was how undeveloped/uncleared the path was (I am a thin person but was still snagging on branches on both sides and getting caterpillars on stuck to me) on top of being a very technical trail in many parts. With all that being said, the tour guide Andre was very hospitable and accommodating. We were supposed to be picked up by a driver who called in sick last minute that morning so he called us an uber and was communicative through the process. He also bought us some extra snacks and water to make up for the 1 hr delay in starting our trip, and carried it for us in the whole trail. The views at the top of the cliff are indeed amazing. The tours are also private so it’s just your group, making it feel more personal (though as a group of just 2 females I did wish there were a few more of us there, as there are no other people on the trail which did feel a bit suspicious at times.. however this trail is on AllTrails so it is legitimate). I definitely don’t think we could have done the hike on our own without a guide though. Overall I think if you have the correct expectations going into it (read all the reviews describing the trail) and you are adequately able and prepared, you will enjoy the views.
Response from the operator: Hello Jennifer, Thank you for your thoughtful and honest review — it means a lot. I’m really glad you enjoyed the experience and the views, and that the private nature of the tour made it feel more personal. That’s exactly the kind of connection with the place we aim to create. I also appreciate you mentioning the feeling of being alone on the trail. These routes are intentionally off the beaten path, which is part of what makes them so special, but I completely understand how that can feel a bit unusual at times — especially in a small group. Your note is very valuable, and we’ll make sure to reinforce that sense of reassurance and context during the tour. You’re absolutely right that this is a hike that requires preparation and local knowledge, and I’m glad that came across. Our goal is always to ensure both safety and a memorable experience. Thanks again for trusting us with your adventure — it was a pleasure guiding you. All the best, André Marquês Ceo - Founder

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe cost?
+
Prices start at $77 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 50 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe?
+
Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hiking tour to the highest limestone cliff of continental Europe start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
