What you get
About this experience
This walk takes us from the small white village of Montejaque, nestled into a niche amongst rocky mountain peaks at the edge of the Sierra de Grazalema, to Ronda. We follow the original pathways that took villagers, drovers and their wares from the mountain village into the town in the days before cars, roads and railways. After a short tour of the village we exit via a stone “zigzag path”. This is a short, steep climb that takes us up into the mountains, past a small chapel and a hidden plateau. We continue through the hills, past huge agave cactus plants, olive groves and farms, with stunning views across the countryside. We climb to a viewpoint where Ronda’s position on top of a sheer rock wall lays before us, then drop down into the fertile valley below the town. We walk directly below the walls of the gorge and enjoy iconic views of the Puente Nuevo bridge, before climbing to our finish point in one of Ronda’s oldest districts, the Barrio San Francisco.

Hiking, history and extremely knowledgeable Guide
Enjoyed a beautiful day out with Elaine! She picked us up at our lodging and we drove to Montejaque, where she gave us a firsthand narrative as she had lived in the area, so she knew so much! Off to the spectacular hiking with a reasonable pace and beautiful day. Elaine shared information along the way on the history of the path, olive and wine industry as we passed many plantings. It was a good pace with not much in elevation, but loads in beauty and scenery. If you like nature and having the wilderness to yourselves, this is for you!

A Great Walk
This was a great walk. The scenery was amazing! and Heather, out guide, was brilliant . She was so friendly and knowledgable. As we walked she explained about the history of the area, the local culture, pointed out land marks and talked about local traditions. We had a fantastic day and will definitely be booking another tour.

How far in advance should I book Hiking - Montejaque to Ronda - 11km Moderate?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Malaga can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Malaga and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Malaga?
+
On Outty we rank every Malaga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Malaga City Tour 2 Hours Monumental Segway Tour, Taste of Malaga Tour : Tapas, History and Local Customs, Go local for a day!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Malaga?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Malaga?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
