The Heights of Hiking with Hadine
Hadine led me on the India Fenster Trail of Table Mountain. He thought I was capable of hiking it, and I was. I needed to take my time, but he was patient every step of the way. He struck the perfect pace. Along the way, he told me about the birds, plants, and animals we saw, the geology, history of the area, and his thoughtful perceptions of contemporary South Africa, which I had asked him to share. Our hike was as beneficial to my mind as my body. Because the cable car was paused for servicing, we hiked down the other side. So, I had a full workout and met other conversation partners along the way. I highly recommend Hadine to anyone as a hiking guide; I know he is an expert cyclist as well. He made the experience both memorable and one that I want to repeat again someday! I am grateful to Dianna, Stefi, and Muki for putting me in touch with him!

Unforgettable Lion's Head Hike with Carmen, the Best Guide
Climbing up Lion’s Head was the highlight of our stay in Capetown, especially with a guide like Carmen!!! We are 2 inexperienced hikers, but we are ambitious and love to challenge ourselves 🤣 so we decided to book a guide for our hike. Carmen was a fantastic guide from beginning to end. Very professional! We felt very safe with her, she was great at encouraging and advising us through difficult and challenging paths. We had to stop quite a few times bcuz of me being asthmatic but Carmen was very patient. She encouraged us to take a break, drink water, when she saw we were struggling. In between she would tell us about the sceneries, the flora and the fauna around. There was no time to get scared or anxious bcuz Carmen kept us entertained. Not only was she very knowledgeable, she was a fantastic photographer too! It took us about 4 hours to reach the top via the ladder and chains route but it went by like a flash (for me in any case 😆). And another 2 hours going down through the "easier" route. Carmen, you're the best!!!! Thank you so much for your patience and for giving us an unforgettable experience at Lion’s Head.

Carmen Morris was an amazing guide. She picked us up from the hotel on time and brought some food and water for us. She is very patient, knowledgeable and professional.

Amazing Guided Lions head hike
We had an amazing hike with Shanine. She provided tremendous support during the hike (gave us a confidence boost for the scrambling) and great Cape Town information. This hike shouldn’t be missed - and I can’t recommend this group highly enough

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $158 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 73 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide?
+
Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does HIKE Cape Town-South Africa With a Private Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike, Ocean Wildlife Encounter in Cape Town, Private Full Day Stellenbosch Wine Tour with Pick Up and Drop Off. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
