About this experience

Hike to the top of Table Mountain, one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature & take the cable car back down. There are 2 route options to choose from (please select correct option at booking): A. India Venster, a more adventurous, rugged & technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for a more adventurous & thrilling way to hike up. Involves rugged, uneven terrain & some rock scrambling. More exciting. Less crowded. Duration +-3.5 hours B. Platteklip Gorge, a more direct, less technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for the most straightforward way to hike up. Involves hundreds of big rock steps all the way to the top. Less exciting. More crowded. Duration +-2.5 hours Both routes are not easy & require a few hours of steep uphill hiking on rocky terrain to get to the top. Both routes end at the top of Table Mountain where we will take the cable car back down (if open). If the cable car is closed (due to weather/maintenance), we will hike back down the more direct route.

Loved every minute.

Booked the India Venster route. No one else happened to book for today but instead of canceling the trip they helped pair me up when an awesome guide to take me up the mountain. Such a fabulous day.

Best way to experience Table Mountain!

Did the Table Mountain hike via the India Venster with Tauriq. We were slightly nervous going up the India Venster trail because of how challenging it is said to be but the trail is dynamic and filled with so much fun and we couldn’t have chosen a better route up Table Mountain. Tauriq’s experience with the route also made the group feel safe, comfortable and assured even while scrambling up the steep rock faces. We had such a good time - thank you to the Cape Town Local team!

Awesome trek! Worth every step!

I did this trek with my daughter. It was a beautiful experience. The trek was challenging and the view was amazing. Our guide, Andrea, was awesome. She is a super nice person. Told us about the trekking routes around, and explained us about table mountain and more. She even told us the legend behind Devils Peak (Van Hunks and the Devil). Andrea is a legend!

Amazing Hike up India Venster with Idrees!

We had an amazing experience with Idrees as our guide for the India Venster! What an amazing Hike/climb! He explained perfectly how to do the more technical sections and also taught us a lot about the Flora and Fauna and the history of Capetown. We had a lot of fun, would highly recommend!

Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.

How much does Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route cost?

+

Prices start at $1000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.

Is Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 286 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route?

+

Around 100 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hike Table Mountain with a Guide - Choose Route start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cape Town?

+

On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cape Town?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
