However our recommended itinerary is as follows: Our Cape of Good Hope hike begins on the western shoreline of the Nature Reserve and traverses to the eastern side, offering breathtaking views across False Bay. During spring, the spectacular wildflowers, abundant birdlife, and opportunities for whale watching are among the many highlights. The hike heads south towards Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, following a scenic coastal route with beautiful beaches and occasional sections of easy rock scrambling. Encounters with baboons are common and often provide memorable wildlife experiences. After a rest at Cape Point, the route continues to the historic lighthouse before following a well-maintained boardwalk to the famous Cape of Good Hope south-westernmost point of Africa. The trail is particularly renowned for its unrivalled views overlooking the pristine waters and dramatic cliffs of Diaz Beach.

We will travel along the Atlantic seaboard, driving between the mountains and the ocean our first photo stop will be at Maiden's Cove beautiful scenic lookout point nestled between Clifton's beaches and the prestigious suburb of Camps Bay in Cape Town.

Hout Bay
Leaving Cape Town the first fishing village we drive through is Hout Bay perched on the edge of the ocean. It is bordered on either side by Table Mountain range which at one end closes into a narrow neck with a road leading to the wealthy mountainside suburb of Constantia and on the other opening out onto the half-moon shaped bay with the scenic Chapman's Peak road between mountain and sea.

Our drive down to the Good Hope nature reserve take us from Hout Bay to Noordhoek on the coastal scenic Chapman's Peak drive across the mountain face, numerous wonderful viewing sites. The almost vertical, sheer cliffs of Chapman's Peak seemingly close enough to touch, plunge into the sea the road cuts through sedimentary dark colored layers of sandstone and the lighter grey-colored granite exposed below the road.

Platboom Beach
The first part of our hike starts along the beach on the Western shoreline of the Nature Reserve crossing over to the Eastern side ending at Cape Point. It offers breathtaking views of False Bay. In spring, spectacular flora and abundant bird life are one of the many highlights as well as Whale watching. You are almost bound to get very close to baboons.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony
Driving out of the Cape Point Nature Reserve our next stop situated along the False Bay coastline is the famous Boulders Penguins Colony near Simon's Town. The place gets its name from the huge and ancient granite boulders along the coast. This picturesque area is home to a colony of some 3000 delightful African Penguins. A boardwalk runs from Foxy Beach to Boulders Beach, where you can get down on the sand and mingle with the penguins but don't be tempted to pet them they have sharp beaks that can cause serious injuries.

Patrick was a fantastic guide!
I did a full day solo tour yesterday with Patrick, and it was an excellent decision to book with him! He was an excellent guide, very personable and a wealth of interesting information to share. He was able to customize my trip to include a long hike in the Cape peninsula followed by a visit to the Kirstenbosch gardens. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough!

THE BEST DAY EVER
Cape Escape Tours has to be the best tour you could ever be on. Patrick makes your day. On timepick up, polite, knowledgeable, great driver. understands the client, responds to any request, flexible. Full day tour to the cape of good hope with a great hike to the lighthouse. Had ample time for shopping and lunch. A wonderful stop @ Boulders Beach to visit penguins and a love at first site to see Simons Town. Was sad to leave at the end of the day. Any tour would be great but I’d say full days are the greatest. Going back to Cape Town I’d book everyday with him. Thank you Patrick for being amazing keep on being you as you are simply the best.

The best experience all the way around.
If you love to hike new places this is one to experience in Cape Town. Patrick of Cape Town Tours was knowledgeable of the history, the wildlife and flora and fauna of this unique area. As we went by areas he was sure to point out areas of interest and explained throughly. The hike was a challenge for this elder hiker but Patrick was patient and the to assist when needed. If ever I return to Cape Town I will definitely book another tour!

Highly recommend this company
What an excellent day with excellent company. We were collected by Patrick on time at 730am, we went mountain biking for 3 hours with Rafik before heading south to the Cape of Good Hope. It was just wonderful. Highlight of our holiday. Patrick is lovely, he allowed us bike more than planned and suggested more biking options for us. The scenery is stunning and we highly recommend using Patrick and his company Cape Escape.
