An experience of a lifetime
Our trip to Hells Gate was almost in jeopardy of not happening because of a communication issue with the booking company and the local tour company. Out of desperation, I did a deep search online for Ace Ecotours and I found Paul’s number. Within an hour of calling Paul, he arrived at our hotel in Nairobi and we began the adventure to Hells Gate. Paul was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. If Paul hadn’t come to our rescue that day, we would have missed the experience of a lifetime. So grateful to Paul, from your 3 Nigerian friends.
Response from the operator: Hello Wola, Thank you for your detailed review of your adventure to hells gate national park with Paul. We will surely pass your compliments as we continue to offer amazing trips just like this. We hope to hear from you again as you plan your next big adventure. Asante!

Really loved this tour!
This tour was such a great way to unwind and start my weekend. My guides Peter and Gadaffi were very accommodating and answered my questions about Kenya. The bike ride is picturesque with rock formations and incredible views. The boat ride after lunch was also quite the treat. I saw hippos upclose and it felt like a true safari! I highly recommend this tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you Wallace for the 5 star review and positive rating of your tour with our guides. We're happy about the positive comments and we will sure pass them to your guide. We hope to hear from you again for bookings of more tours like this. Asante!

Heavenly trip to Hell’s Gate and back
The trip to Hell’s Gate Park was quite incredible. It’s a pretty long trek from Nairobi, but worth it.we took (slightly uncomfortable, but working… they did the job) bikes into the park. We were assigned a (mandatory) guide who was excellent and had great stories to tell along the way. Our driver for the day was prompt, courteous and patient. His vehicle was clean and comfortable for the long journey along bumpy roads. The trip to the lake was amazing, take the boat ride, it’s worth it!
Response from the operator: Thank you Bill for the incredible review of the Hells gate tour. We are happy you enjoyed your time biking in the hells gate park. We will pass your kind words to your guide Paul and we look forward to hosting you on more exciting and amazing adventures. Asante

Great guide but expensive for solo traveller
My Guide Peter was great and kept me motivated when I wanted to give up on the biking tour. Easy to talk to and has a lot of knowledge. It was nice to see animals while biking. My only complaint is that the tour was very expensive. I payed almost the same as the price for two people. But I quickly realised that most tours from Nairobi are overpriced when you travel solo. This does however not reflect upon my guide and experience as it is true for other tours aswell.
Response from the operator: Thank you Madou for the positive review of the Hells gate tour. We are glad you had a great tour with Peter and that the tour met your expectations. We understand the comments but please note that our tour includes the cost of transportation to Naivasha and back to your hotel, hells gate entrance fees, biking fees, boatride fees and the cost of hiring the bikes. We are always trying to give the lowest price and this tour is no exception. Its the all inclusive aspect that makes it include all the costs so that you dont have to pay for anything other than lunch on the day of the experience. We wish you all the best and we hope to hear from you soon for bookings of more exciting adventures. Asante!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.
How much does Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha cost?
+
Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.
Is Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hells Gate Bike Ride and Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Nairobi?
+
On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 days group joining safari to Maasai Mara with a Land Cruiser Jeep, 1 Day trip to Hells Gate and optional Lake Naivasha From Nairobi, Nairobi Masai village Day Tour Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Nairobi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Nairobi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
