    Had a great time!

WOW! Great location, great class, great teacher. I learned a lot, and I'm a chef in ozzie! Had a fantastic time learning the way the locals cook, and the homenade apricot liquor was sensational too! Thank you so much.

    Northern delights..

Don’t go here…Unless you want the REAL Northern Vietnam experience 🇻🇳 Whatever you do, don’t book this cooking class Unless, of course, you like being whisked through the organised chaos of Hanoi in a cyclo, dodging scooters, pedestrians and what appeared to be several million other people who had absolutely no intention of following any known road rule\. Our guide and chef, Trang, along with his equally brilliant assistant Mai, started our culinary adventure by throwing us straight into the deep end — literally into the streets of Hanoi First stop: a proper local wet market No shiny tourist stalls, No carefully arranged Instagram vegetables, Just the wonderfully chaotic, gloriously noisy, slightly damp reality of a Vietnamese market, where Trang expertly selected the freshest ingredients while we tried to look like we knew what we were doing. From there, we upgraded our transport to a slightly more civilised electric taxi and headed deeper into Hanoi to a beautiful little garden cooking school, tucked away amongst the madness of the city. And then the knives came out… Four classic Northern Vietnamese dishes stood between us and lunch: 🥢 Pork spring rolls 🍜 Chicken Pho 🥗 Beef noodle salad 🥩 Betel leaf wrapped beef Under Trang’s watchful eye, we chopped, sliced, rolled, stirred and generally tried not to embarrass ourselves\. The best part? This wasn’t one of those “watch the chef do everything while you politely clap” cooking classes… We actually cooked… Trang was an absolute legend — knowledgeable, hilarious and wonderfully patient, even when our knife skills suggested we may have been better suited to operating the electric taxi\. She had the rare gift of making the unfamiliar feel immediately accessible: no performance, no tourist theatre, just good food, sharp instincts and the kind of easy hospitality that makes you want to stay for one more dish.. Mai kept everything flowing beautifully and somehow managed to make the whole thing feel relaxed, personal and completely unhurried… And then came the best part… We ate it Four dishes we’d actually prepared ourselves, surrounded by the greenery of the garden and the sounds of Hanoi continuing its beautiful organised chaos outside… Naturally, no great Vietnamese culinary experience should end without a little liquid encouragement, so we finished with some rather lovely **apricot wine**… Because apparently four dishes weren’t enough to convince us we had made excellent life choices… If you’re looking for a polished, sanitised, tourist\-bubble cooking demonstration where you spend two hours watching someone else cook — **don’t come here.** But if you want to see the real Hanoi, shop where locals shop, cook proper Northern Vietnamese food, laugh a lot and leave considerably more interested in Vietnamese food than when you arrived… Book this class Trang and Mai gave us exactly the kind of experience we were hoping for — local, intimate, hands-on, delicious and just the right amount of chaotic

An absolute MUST for an immersive taste of Vietnam!

We had an amazing time! I cannot encapsulate the passion that Mango exudes. She was always ready with interesting knowledge and funny anecdotes. My partner and I loved her warmth, attention to detail, and encouragement. My partner is more skilled in cooking than I am, however, Mango was agile and able adjust. I had some dietary preferences that Mango was considerate of from our trip through the market all the way to the desert course. This is honestly one of the highlights of our three week journey through Vietnam. When we come back to Vietnam, we will make sure to return for another lesson!

Best food we’ve had in Hanoi!

We had a great experience going to the market and then cooking a lunch up with Mango. She is incredibly knowledgeable about her craft and also very welcoming This was without a doubt one of our best culinary experiences in all of Vietnam!

Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary cost?

    +

Prices start at $64 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary take?

    +

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 127 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary?

    +

Around 44 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hanoi Cooking Class in a Haven of Tranquility - Thom culinary start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ha Giang Loop 3-Day Small Group - from Hanoi, (Group/Individual) HANOI STREET FOOD TOUR, Incense Village Quang Phu Cau, Hat Village and Hanoi City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
