    Wine tour

Nice tourguide, Victor, very cheerful and constantly informing about Madeira. First a stop at Cabo Girão viewpoint, 600m above sea level. Then a stretch off road to the north side of the island. To finish at winemaker Quinta do Barbusano, where we got a tour and tasting. All very well cared for.

Wine tasting up in the clouds

We had the jeep to ourselves as another couple cancelled and Seve was our driver. He was so knowledgeable and told us the history of Madeira. He was a great guide and had a fun sense of humour. He took us to the best spots to see the most spectacular views. The off road was a thrill but we felt safe as Seve is an excellent driver. Wine tasting up in the clouds was the best experience we have had on our travels around Madeira, we would highly recommend this tour

    Great Jeep safari, disappointing wine!

Our driver Ricardo did a great job, was a brilliant driver and very knowledgeable about the history of Madeira. But the wine part was disappointing, the wine itself being pretty forgettable, and the the so-called “tapas” were rubbish, consisting of a few mini toasts and some sparse strips of cheese and salami!

Half day Jeep Mountain Tour, Wine and Tapas

Lovely afternoon with Riccardo. My wife and I had the Landrover to ourselves. Riccardo was very knowledgeable about Madeira, Fauna (Laurel Forest), wine and Portuguese history. He picked us up from the Cliff Bay Hotel, we visited the view point at Miradouro de São Sebastião, travelled up through the Sao Vincente valley and the Laurel forest, ending up at Quinta do Barbusano winery for a tour of the vineyard and tasting of 6 wines. The winery was at a beautiful location overlooking Nossa Senhora de Fátima Chapel and the view was tremendous looking down to Sao Vincent and the sea to the north. We felt very safe whilst he was driving up the steep mountain pass. We have already booked another trip to Madeira next June and will definitely book another trip with Riccardo. Thank you Riccardo. A good and surprising tour. Great sights, some off-roading and a beautiful vineyard with stunning views. The wine was very decent too. Would recommend.

Response from the operator: Hi, thanks for your feedback and see you soon in sunny Madeira

Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Wine Tour- Shared start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
