Excellent Tea Ceremony class and the best guide!
What an awesome experience that will bring us fond memories for life. Jerry is very professional, very knowledgeable and super friendly. He provided excellent communication even prior to the tour day. He arrived earlier to the hotel lobby to wait for my wife and me. He took us to a class about the tea ceremony and different kinds of teas. It was great. The tea expert did not speak any English so Jerry was also the translator. He did great. The class was very interesting and we learned a lot. We tried several kinds of teas and understood a lot of new things about tea making, After the class, Jerry helped us buying some tea and further more, we asked him to help us find some tea related equipment such as tray, the automatic tea kettle (with automatic water supply and different heat settings), Gong fu tea sets, etc. He kindly took us to a specialty store for all of that, same that as a tourist you will never find. He even offer to help us with an additional bag we needed to carry back home the tea related stuff we bought. With all of that we went over the allotted time and he was always kind and willing to help us and make that afternoon in Chengdu a great experience. Highly, highly recommended. We are looking to go back to Chengdu one day and for sure we will look again for Jerry.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for exploring Chinese tea culture with us! We hope you enjoyed learning about tea varieties and traditional brewing methods. Share your tea moments with @ChilliCoolChina - we can't wait to see them! It was wonderful having you with us, and we'd be delighted to see you again in future workshops. After being met...
After meeting at my hotel, we went to a tea house to exchange interesting information about how to prepare tea. We were able to try three kinds of tea. The big advantage of this tour is the translation. Otherwise, we can go to a tea house by ourselves. But the coach brought a lot of information beyond translation. I therefore recommend for people who do not speak Chinese
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for joining our Kung Fu Tea Tasting Experience! We hope you enjoyed immersing yourself in the ancient art of tea and discovering new flavors and aromas. It was a true pleasure to share this peaceful journey with you, and we’d be honored to welcome you back for future sessions. If you have any moments or insights you’d like to share, we’d love to see or hear from you! Warmly, Lance Kung Fu Tea Experience

Great local tea ceremony experience with the best guides!
This course was fantastic. First, it was our second tour of the day with the same company so our previous guide, Jerry, spoke with our tea guide, Lance, and he took us to spend more time in the local market since we had such a good time. The tour started earlier than planned so that we could do that, and we were so grateful for the experience! Then, we got to the tea. Not only were we given the choice to pick from a lot of different teas, but we were also given the opportunity to prepare and pour the tea ourselves. We had such wonderful teas, and loved learning how to do it ourselves. Our guides truly went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us and we had so much fun!
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for joining our Kung Fu Tea Experience! We hope you had an amazing time learning about traditional tea ceremonies and tasting techniques. Don't forget to tag @ChilliCoolChina in your tea photos - we'd love to see your tea journey! It was a pleasure having you with us, and we'd love to see you again in future classes. Happy brewing! Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chengdu.
How much does Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chengdu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chengdu is not rushed.
Is Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chengdu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chengdu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chengdu and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Half-day Private Kungfu Tea course in Local Tea House start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chengdu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chengdu?
+
On Outty we rank every Chengdu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chengdu Cooking Class with a Local Market Visit, Private Chengdu Day Tour: Giant Pandas and Jinsha Site Museum, Tuktuk Food Tour Through Chengdu's Local Eats. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chengdu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chengdu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
