Wrong time on voucher
We arrived in good time for a 3pm departure as printed on the voucher to be told the buses had departed at 1.30pm so we missed the trip. We were promised a refund as there was no mention anywhere in the documentation of the earlier departure. We booked another trip for the following day but unfortunately conditions were not as good the next day on Vesuvius so there were no views from the top.
Response from the operator: so sorry for this inconvenient but we cannot predict bad weather regards Francesca

This is only a bus ride and entry fee to the volcano, not a tour
The actual top of Vesuvius was incredible but paying all that money for the bus ride there... hmmmmm not sure about that. Plus, when I bought the tickets it said anyone under 18 pays the child price. I put my son's birthdate in and paid for 2 adult tickets and 1 child. When we got to the tour they gave us an upcharge of 20 Euros because they said I paid the incorrect amount for my son. Well, I paid what was on the Viator website! So we paid it but that was annoying. So overall, you're asking me to rate the tour which was basically just a bus ride. We had to hike up the volcano side on our own, no guide. Just told to meet back at the bus at a certain time. So this "Tour" is really bus fare and entry fee to the volcano, which I was upcharged for on the day of.
Response from the operator: First of all we thank you for your review. We only followed as indicated in the programm. Regards Francesca.

A bus tour well worth it
Great value trip. Minibus from central Pompeii to the coach park then a 45 minute (hard but well worth it) to the crater for excellent views.
Response from the operator: Dear guest, Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the trip and found it great value. The hike to the crater is indeed a bit challenging, but the stunning views make it all worthwhile! We really appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again on another adventure soon.

Canceled
We were very excited to see Mt Vesuvius. Unfortunately due to rain and fog the tour was canceled. We understand the weather can't be controlled. But they took 30 min to tell us that we were not going. Unfortunately by that time we were out of options. Thank you

Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus cost?
+
Prices start at $62 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus take?
+

Is Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus?

Is Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Half-Day Mount Vesuvius of Pompeii Tour by Bus start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
