They cancelled the tour when they were supposed to pick me up
I didn’t even go on the tour as they CANCELLED on me at the time they were supposed to pick me up. They claim they were only notified minutes before messaging me but I don’t believe that if they were going to be closed, they shouldn’t have made the booking available for the day. This is unacceptable misleading people with an available tour and not notifying them ahead of time

Cenote was great, organization needs work!
Overall my husband and I enjoyed the activities included in this tour, however, the organization of it needs work! A lot of lack of communication and waiting. It started with our attempt at booking the tour. Initially attempting to book through Trip Advisor, the description noted that our hotel was one of the pick up points (great!) but, when I went to book it was not an option. I reached out for assistance, which was confusing because they were looking through the Viator portal not the Trip Advisor portal and there was a whole bunch of miscommunication there. Anyways, figured that out, booked through Viator and like I was told, I selected "choose pick up location later" then in the notes wrote my hotel for pick up. It was all booked, seemingly no issue anymore. Then as the tour date approached, I was getting emails telling me to update my pick up location otherwise my tour may be canceled. Well that set off some alarms of course, I reached out to Magenta Travel, who the tour was with, looking for clarification, no response. The day before our tour I received an email confirming pick up time and location (my hotel). Ok great, I guess they did get the message, but never confirmed it or responded to me earlier (frustrating). This message also said for us to meet them OUTSIDE of the hotel gates for pick up, ok no problem. Morning of our tour we go to wait outside of the gates, this was all very confusing for our hotel security and annoying for us. Eventually the van arrives to pick us up and they go, oh we always pick you up from the lobby...well that's not the info I got. Next, we knew we had to pay a tax for going into the national park or whatever, no where in any of the info did it say it had to be in cash. So they ask if we want to pay cash or card, I say card, then they go, oh well we left the machine back at the base in the jungle and that's too far away so it'll have to be cash...so my husband had to run to the atm in the hotel to take out more cash! Ok not the end of the world, but super annoying!! We arrive at the Tulum Ruins, we wait for almost an hour honestly, before all parties for the tour and the van we were holding our stuff in arrived. I'm honestly not sure what the hold up was but we were meant to start at 9 am and didn't start until almost 9:45 am. The Ruins themselves were cool, however I wouldn't go out of my way to suggest seeing them unless you've never seen something like that before. I wish our guide had talked to us more throughout the tour, he maybe stopped like 4 times to discuss things, but I feel like we definitely missed a lot of information and story telling. The signs throughout the ruins don't really give you a lot of info either. After the tour was done, again a lot of waiting for our van to come back to take us to the cenote. During this there was a lot of confusion about who was going in what van. Finally, the highlight of the tour was the cenote! Super cool experience. I actually didn't know we would be going deeper into it and essentially swimming in a cave, but we loved it! Our guide here was very nice, funny, and informative. The lunch was fine - beans, rice, pork, chips. The pork was actually quite tasty, but at this point we could've skipped the lunch and just ate back at our resort. Cost was fairly good compared to other tours, no big complaints there. Just a frustrating experience. Honestly, the cenote made up for what almost felt like a wasted half day. FINAL THOUGHTS: skip this tour. If you really want to see ruins book a tour for that but otherwise just look at organizing a trip to a cenote (there are tons in this area)!

Half-day excursion packed everything in, recommend!
Great day. My older teen and young adult kids loved this half-day tour. We chose the afternoon departure and it still felt like a full and tiring day (about 6 hours) despite being a half-day tour. We were picked up from our resort in a shared van but then changed to a private van heading to Tulum (the other travelers had a different set of experiences booked but we ended up on the same van home.) Our historical tour of Tulum ruins ended up being just our family with an excellent tour guide, Adrian, who excelled at keeping the information relevant and interesting to everyone. Don't be surprised to have another van/driver between experiences; the company arranges all the logistics and you don't have to keep track of where to go. It was all arranged seamlessly and efficiently. Our guide at the cenote, Xavier, was also very good and we all loved the experience. We got the "lunch" after the cenote swim, as described in the tour description, even though it wasn't lunchtime. It's more like a hearty snack and was a tasty treat at the end of the day before heading back to the resort. Everyone loved this excursion!

Cenote was fantastic while Tulum tour was lame
If you really want to learn about the history of Tulum, don't choose this tour. Our guide told us a bit about it, showed us some pictures on his iPad to help explain, then told us we could look around on our own and to meet him in 30 minutes. All of the other tour guides were taking their groups from building to building providing thorough information about the ruins. However, the cenote experience with Julio was fantastic. The Mayan experience at the end of the excursion felt like a gimmicky way to try to get us to buy more stuff. We stopped to pay the ruins tax at a really odd stop off the highway where several people tried to sell us stuff. That got very annoying. So, the cenote itself is the only gem in this offering.

Everything was beautiful, highly recommended.
We did this tour as a family and it turned out to be one of our favorite days in Mexico. The Tulum ruins were absolutely beautiful, and the ocean views were even better than we expected. Our guide was friendly and shared lots of interesting facts without making it feel like a long history lesson. After that, swimming in the cenote was exactly what we needed. The water was so clear and refreshing, and we all had a great time. Lunch was really good too, and it was nice to sit down and relax before heading back. Everything was well organized and the whole day felt easy and enjoyable. We made some great family memories and would definitely recommend this tour.
