Highlight of our visit to Fairbanks!

My buddy and I are two old dudes who haven’t put a line in the water in years, and honestly… we were a little nervous about looking rusty out there. When I told Ben that, he just smiled and chuckled, saying, “I meet more of you guys than you can imagine.” Right then, we knew we were in good hands. Ben — the owner of Solstice Adventure Company LLC — was exactly what we needed. Kind. Patient. Steady. The kind of guide who makes you feel like you belong on the water, no matter how long it’s been. He took us to great spots, set up our jigs, and never once got frustrated when we got hung up or lost one. He shared stories, talked us through his own journey, and made the entire day feel relaxed, enjoyable, and genuinely memorable. What really stood out was how intentional he was about the whole experience — not just the fishing. He slowed down so we could soak in the scenery and take in the wildlife. We saw a moose, and later an eagle flying and then perching… moments that felt like Alaska itself was showing off. And something I really appreciated: Ben has guided everyone from professional-level fishermen to complete beginners to kids just learning how to hold a rod. He knows how to meet people exactly where they are, and he does it with patience and kindness that never feels forced. If you’re considering a guided fishing trip in Alaska, I cannot recommend Solstice Adventure Company LLC enough. Whether you’re experienced, rusty, or brand new, Ben will make sure you have a day you’ll remember.

Response from the operator: You guys did great out there! I remember you asked me about on one my most memorable trips while we were out there on that water, little did you know, one of them was in the making! I Appreciate you guys and hope the rest of your trip is amazing! -Ben

    Alaska Fishing Tour

Ben was a great tour guide and went out of his way to make sure we both successfully caught some fish. The river was beautiful and Ben took us to about 8 different fishing spots. A great experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you!! That was a beautiful day on the water, I’m glad you guys could make it out.

    Amazing experience!

We loved this! It was the perfect ending to our Alaska trip, and our favorite. The river is beautiful, our guide was so friendly and helpful. We caught some grayling, saw a moose with her calf and several eagles. I highly recommend and will book again if I’m blessed enough to visit Alaska again.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! I’m so glad we could sneak that moose sighting in there at the very end :) very nice meeting you two and spending the day out there with you!

    Very Enjoyable Half Day Fishing

Our guide, Dan, was very knowledgeable, skilled, and helpful. We had a great ride up river for about 20 minutes and then fished at several spots. All four of us on board caught arctic grayling and Dan got them onto the boat for us. A very relaxing and enjoyable time.

Response from the operator: Thanks David!! You guys were a lot of fun, glad I got to spend the day with you out there. You guys were doing so good we didn’t even have to get that far up the river!!

Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.

How much does Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat cost?

    +

Prices start at $195 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat take?

    +

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.

Is Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided Fishing Adventure On The Chena River By Boat start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?

    +

Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours, Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?

    +

Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Fairbanks?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
