What you'll see and do
Fairbanks
Not a single meeting with the Northern Lights is like another. Each time the lights change colors and start new dance. Their main hue is green, but it can be purple, pink, red and blue, depending on their strength and atmospheric conditions. Aurora Borealis is a mystical unpredictable and beautiful phenomenon that suddenly appears and disappears in the same way.

Amazing View
It was great!! They stayed out with us late night until we finally got to see the northern lights. They were really nice people and I would go out with them again.
Response from the operator: Dear Juanita! Thank You so very much for this wonderful 5‑star review. You just cannot imagine how much Your words mean to us. Knowing You had a great time and that staying out late together was worth it in the end truly fills our hearts. We’d be honored to take You out again for another Aurora adventure! Had an amazing experience...
Had an amazing experience with the lights. We stayed out until very late to get some great shows. It was better than Iceland. They used mutliple SLR cameras to get amazing photos and videos of the lights to send a few weeks after the tour. The guides were all so enthusiastic it was addicting. Thank you for an amazing experience!
Response from the operator: Dear Catherine, Thank You so much for this incredible 5-star review! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that Your experience with us was even better than Iceland! Staying out late was worth every minute to witness those spectacular shows. Our guides pour so much energy and passion into every tour, and hearing that their enthusiasm was addicting is the highest compliment we could receive. We are also so glad You appreciated the multiple MILC cameras - we want to make sure every memory is captured perfectly. Thank You for choosing us, and we hope to welcome You back for another unforgettable night under the lights in the future! Warm regards, Arctic Night Tours

I highly recommend this tour
Our original tour cancelled because of the weather. The guides on this tour consulted a weather map and found a place outside the cloud cover. They drove us three hours to get there. There was no guarantee we would see the lights even then, but we saw a spectacular light show that defies description. At times there were streaks and swirls and curtains of light that involved much of the sky. Our guides had great cameras and took many gorgeous photos with the lights behind my husband and me. There is no extra charge for the photos. The guides are really lovely people and even brought snacks and water for us. I highly recommend this tour!
Response from the operator: Dear Margaret, Thank You so very much for sharing this beautiful review! We’re truly grateful You took the time to describe Your experience in such detail. It means a lot to hear that - even after Your original tour was canceled due to weather - You still chose to chase the Aurora with us, and that the night turned into something unforgettable. Driving three hours to escape the cloud cover is exactly the kind of effort we’re always willing to make, and we’re thrilled it paid off with a spectacular light show. Streaks, swirls, curtains of light filling the sky… those are the moments we live for, and we’re so happy You were there to witness them. We’re delighted that You enjoyed the photos and videos as well. Capturing those memories for our guests is one of our favorite parts of the job, and we’re glad the images of You and Your husband turned out beautifully. Thank You again for Your heartfelt recommendation. It was a joy having You on the tour, and we’d love to welcome You back under the Arctic sky anytime! Warm regards, Arctic Night Tours

Aurora Tour
Tour guides were friendly & professional driving a great distance to find favorable conditions. We had an awesome aurora experience!
Response from the operator: Dear William, Thank You so very much for Your kind words! We’re very happy to hear You had an awesome Aurora experience. Our guides truly appreciate Your recognition — they work hard to chase the best conditions, even when it means driving long distances to find clear skies. We’re thrilled the northern lights showed up for You and that the night became one to remember. It was a pleasure having You with us, and we’d love to welcome You back under the Arctic night again someday. Kind regards, Arctic Night Tours

Bad customer service
I had a good experience with the tour guides but we the aurora barely showed up that night which I’m not blaming the guides for. However, the guides told us that the aurora didn’t show for only 2 nights the entire season and this was the 3rd night. They told us the company will refund us which was ok with us. We also took a bunch of pictures to at least have some memories from that night. We were told we would get them within 2 weeks. After the trip, I called the company and we were denied a refund because they said the aurora showed up slightly. After 2 weeks, I called about the photos which We also didn’t receive. The company said the aurora didn’t come out so we don’t get the photos. So they basically robbed us of our moment. The person that was answering the calls was rude and unhelpful.
Response from the operator: Hello Philippe El Asmar and Lea Kattra, We would like to clarify the situation, because several parts of Your review are inaccurate and do not reflect what actually happened during Your tours with us. First, the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and as we explain to every guest, we never guarantee 100% Aurora visibility. This is exactly why many guests — including You — book multiple nights in a row to increase their chances of seeing stronger displays and enjoy Alaska landscape. During Your tours on both nights, our guide mentioned that this season has been very active and beautiful, and that we had only two nights with crystal‑clear skies but no Aurora. At no point did anyone promise refunds or mention anything about a “third night.” That is not a policy we offer, and it was never stated. Our actual refund policy: We give a full refund only in the case of 100% sky coverage and bad weather everywhere, when it is impossible to see the Aurora at any location. In those rare cases, we personally call every guest and offer either a full refund or a free reschedule to another available day. Your tour nights did not fall under this category. About Your two nights with us: Night 1: You experienced one of the most spectacular Aurora nights of the season. You received lots of photos — even though You repeatedly cut in front of other guests who were waiting their turn. Despite that, our guide still made sure You got Your pictures. Night 2: The Aurora did appear, with lower activity than the previous night, and later it showed again for a short but beautiful period. Other guests were outside enjoying it. You both chose to stay inside most of the time waiting for something “spectacular,” and then later claimed the Aurora “barely showed.” In Your phone call, You also claimed You took “at least 20 photos,” which is physically impossible with 28 guests and the limited time the Aurora was visible. About the refund request: You requested a full refund even though the Aurora appeared and the full service was provided. We cannot refund a tour simply because the Aurora was not as strong as the night before. That is not how Aurora tours work, and this is clearly stated in our policy. About the photos: You received Your photos from the first night — the night with the strong Aurora. On the second night, the Aurora was faint and brief, and You did not participate outside during the moments it appeared. We cannot create photos that do not exist. About the phone call: Our staff member remained calm and informative throughout the conversation. The recording shows the tone came from Your side, not ours. Leaving a one‑star review because Your refund request was denied — after receiving the service and after seeing the Aurora on both nights — is not fair to our team or to future guests. We work extremely hard, in harsh conditions, to give every guest the best possible experience. We stand by the service we provided and the accuracy of the information above.

Why this scores 87
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.
How much does Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours cost?
+
Prices start at $215 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.
Is Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 549 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours?
+
Around 192 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?
+
Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout, Electric Moose Studios Aurora Adventure W/Portraits & Hot Pizza!!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?
+
Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Fairbanks?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
