3-day trip
The trip was very nice. We saw some beautiful places and experienced the dunes for the first time. The driver was very nice and helpful, and he had so much interesting information to share about all the places we stopped at. It was a great experience and we really enjoyed it!

From the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara – An Unforgettable Family Adventure
We had a wonderful experience on this 4-day private tour to Merzouga, travelling as a family of three — two adults and our 14-year-old daughter. The team arranged to pick us up directly from Agadir and finish the tour in Marrakech, which fitted perfectly into our travel plans and made the whole experience extremely convenient. The tour is a fantastic way to experience how diverse Morocco really is. The journey across the High Atlas Mountains is spectacular, with constantly changing scenery, traditional villages, beautiful valleys and dramatic landscapes along the way. We visited Aït Ben Haddou and the Dades Valley, before continuing towards Merzouga and the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara. Arriving in the Sahara was, of course, one of the absolute highlights. After travelling through the mountains and rocky landscapes, suddenly reaching the huge sand dunes of Merzouga is an incredible experience. Spending time in the desert made the journey completely worthwhile and gave us some unforgettable family memories. We particularly enjoyed having a private tour, as it gave us the freedom to experience the journey at our own pace. The itinerary was flexible and could be adapted to our interests. A great example was Ouarzazate, where we wanted to visit the film studios even though this was not included in our original program. The schedule was adjusted so we could visit them, which we really appreciated. Our driver, Ibrahim, was excellent throughout the four days — friendly, professional, patient and very flexible. He was always happy to stop when we wanted to take photographs or spend more time somewhere. Most importantly, especially travelling with our daughter, we felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the entire journey, including the mountain roads and the long drives. Overall, everything was very well organized from beginning to end. From being picked up in Agadir to arriving at our final destination in Marrakech four days later, the entire experience ran smoothly and offered a great combination of spectacular scenery, interesting stops, flexibility and the unforgettable experience of the Sahara. A big thank you to the entire Marrakech Desert Trips team for organizing such a wonderful experience, and a special thank you to Ibrahim for taking such good care of us throughout the journey. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to discover much more of Morocco than the main cities, and especially to families looking for a comfortable, well-organized and flexible private experience. Four fantastic days, beautiful family memories and an unforgettable journey across Morocco to the Sahara. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a great experience on the trip. Our guide was very good, outgoing, and helped with whatever questions or needs we had. They take you to places that are worth visiting. The desert trip and the night in the camp looking at the amazing stars was just awesome. The trip itself is very cheap at first, but you will end up spending more money. For the desert, you must take a scarf and sunglasses; if not, the shops they take you to will overcharge you a lot. Also, lunches are expensive and located outside the cities, so you have to eat there. There are a lot of stops like this (cafe shops... all tourist prices). We heard it's also because they take a commission for bringing people there. Besides that, the trip is great — just expect that you will spend way more money than you planned. Hotels were better than we expected, with good food, and the workers in the camps are amazing. The guides try very hard to make everyone happy. They speak a lot of languages and know a lot of history.

Disappointed
I would like to provide some feedback on our recent 3 day tour with MDT. Our Day 1 pickup point in Marrakech was easy to find and right on time. Our tour group on our bus was around 11 people which made for a nicer drive for the first day, not being cramped on the bus. Our driver Mohamed was great and drove safely which made us feel comfortable, however, communication was on the poor side. When we finally arrived to our accommodation that night, we were horrified at the state of the hotel that was assigned to our group, Hotel Le Chateau. The room my husband and I were given was absolutely disgusting. We had to go downstairs to ask for an aircon remote , to which they gave us two and told us to bring the other o r back because another room uses the same remotes.......the remote was covered in grime so thick we didn't want to even touch it. As we opened the door, there was the strongest smell of cigarette smoke (no smoking sign right outside the door) the floors felt filthy, the pillows smelt like they had been slept on, the stale smell of someone's hair and cologne, as-well as hair all over the pillows. The pillow cases were broken at the seams and one did not even have a case on it, revealing all the stains. It was as if someone had slept in there for a night and they simply re-tightened the sheets and made the bed the next morning. When we pulled the covers down it was apparent that the sheets had not been changed. More hair and dirt everywhere......I wish I took more photos but this was before we noticed the state of the toilet, with faeces and old urine on top of the seat and underneath, which was the point we asked for another room. The next room smelt like old sewerage but the sheets seemed clean in this one.... still felt extremely dirty and we were shocked at the level of cleanliness. How is this hotel part of your high standards you claim to have?? That night we went to dinner, looked fine, but as I cut into the second skewers after eating the first one, the chicken was still raw…. Absolute health hazard. I am so surprised no one fell ill. We showed the waiter and all he said was "we can bring another" which we absolutely refused. The entire stay there was extremely dissappointing and really made the ending to the first day with your company very questionable. The Merzouga part of the tour was good, but again, communication was poor and we all kind of felt like we were just getting hearded into places for the sake of it, rather than the experience that was described on your website. We also found out ourselves that although we had paid for the ‘deluxe room upgrade’ thinking this was the option which included aircon, we still had to pay another 30eur EACH, just to have aircon in the room. The website upon booking did not clearly display this as there was only one upgrade option in the drop down box. Bit of an unpleasant surprise. Although clear on the newly updated website nor, this was not clear when we booked at all. We also had no clear instructions on the process once we arrived at the desert and the leaving time the following day. This was annoying because everyone gave us different answers, and none of them were clear leaving us confused and having to message the WhatsApp to ask again and again.... The following morning when we made it back to the desert office at the hotel, we were told we would have a different driver. We went from a nice big van to a really worn out looking personal car, with a driver Ali, who doesn't speak any English. This isn't what we paid for. it was a very big day of driving and was the worst/scariest part of any travel we have ever done. For starters, he was so sick, and coughed without covering his mouth for the entire 8 hours, forcing us to leave the windows down so we didn't get sick, which unfortunately did not help as we are now both sick. We had to intervene his driving yelling STOP, or SLOW DOWN, or CAR!!!!! multiple times. He was constantly on his phone, eyes off the road, meaning he was swerving all over the place. He also voluntarily drove in the wrong lane, dangerously over took cars on blind corners and hills and was even speeding towards oncoming traffic more times than we can't count. We were so close to being in an accident many times. Which would have been catastrophic as he drove within centimetres of cars in front of us at all times, almost crashing into the backs of them. My husband's seatbelt also did not work. He wasn't paying attention, and at times even kept 'resting' his eyes. I cannot even begin to explain how stressful this journey was and we almost told him to drop us off in the middle of nowhere because of the way we felt. Our lives felt at risk. He will cause a very serious accident with paying customers one day. I still can't believe that this was part of a paid tour, that we chose, based on safety and standards. We highly encourage you not to use this driver EVER again. We can guarantee it will end in a bad accident or even fatality. We feel lucky to be alive to be honest. To say we are disappointed and simply disturbed is a huge understatement. We will be leaving a review telling our experience. We will not be able to recommend the company. We are usually very easily pleased people. When you book a specialist tour company, you expect a minimum level of safety and cleanliness, which definitely was not the case and this was such a concerning experience, we felt the need it was extremely important to contact someone. We hope someone replies to us as we emailed the company directly first and have not had any response whatsoever. I have attached some very poor photos of the room we were given at the first night stay (wish I took closer up/better ones)
