What you get

    About this experience

Grand Bazaar and its outskirts are really an impressive area full of with hidden spots or gems like alleys, Hans, Bedestens etc. This old covered market complex is an overwhelming spot and even for me it took some years to explore it! As a result of guiding my guests for many walking tours in & around Istanbul city, I want to share my experience of years with my guests, this time focusing on the unique covered market complex to give them a taste of it thorough my eyes! Grand Bazaar is somewhere way more charming than it is known! And I would love to assist my guests to discover more local and historic faces of Grand Bazaar from all perspectives!

    What you'll see and do

    1. Grand Bazaar

The Route we will take during our walking tour is an amazing one with all the colors around and its unpredictable atmosphere reflecting different centuries will make you feel like you are travelling in a time machine! A unique location to explore like a labyrinth of past through the alleys in and around it! We will walk from alley to alley, in & out and have a chance to see different parts of the complex!

      120 minutes here

    2. Located right in the middle of the Market Place, with its charming architecture, Cevahir Bedesten is always one of the top spots to stop and have a look! Once the section for antique auctions and the treasury building for Ottomans, it is still standing with its grandeur of ages! As we walk through it, you will notice and feel its otherness compared to most parts of the Covered Market!

      15 minutes here

    3. Buyuk Yeni Han

This amazing and huge Han(hotel-inn or caravanserai) is located by a narow alley and we will visit it and have a look at its architecture! Like many other Hans around the Grand Bazaar, it is still a lively and vibrant Han and for sure the largest!

      15 minutes here

    4. Buyuk Valide Han

Here is another great Han to visit from 1651! Not far from Buyuk Yeni Han, it is located in the same alley with galleries and a beautiful courtyard. Still a lively Han, not as busy as Buyuk Yeni Han, but it has one of the most impressive rooftop views of the old city.

Wonderful experience with an excellent guide

This tour is excellent in that you are shown the key highlights of the Grand Bazaar, including hidden caravanserai, where you can sit overlooking some amazing views. Ozgur picked us up at our hotel in the morning, and we enjoyed his excellent guiding until mid afternoon. We covered a lot of ground, but also felt relaxed, as we made some quick stops for coffee, baklava, homemade lemonade at the caravanserai and a quick bite for lunch. We even saw the rooftop where the famous James Bond opening scene was shot. The Grand Bazaar is huge and so easy to get lost and frustrated. We would not have experienced 10% of what we did on our own. Ozgur even helped us to change money and book a discounted hammam. Recommend this tour highly it is the best way to navigate this area and learn the history, while enjoying local culture. Would definitely book again.

Ozgur…our grand bazaar VIP tour guide

Touring with Ozgur, was a once in a lifetime experience. His knowledge was incredible; he knew all the short cuts, all the best vendors, and fascinating stories at every turn. Ozgur was definitely a VIP, therefore, we were treated like VIPs. We now consider him a friend for life.

    Diversity of Products

Incredible place to go, has to go without limited hours, because there are countless stores, thousands of products where literally the delicious is to get lost by those corridors

    Very nice market

Very nice Covered and ventilated market , architecture the paintings are beautiful . It’s nice to shop here but just be careful tourists that we are feel free to negotiate your prices. On the other hand, the merchants are generous have taste to full of flavor (too good at snack time ) tea cake all our senses are awake .

Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.

How much does Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys cost?

    +

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.

Is Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Grand Bazaar Through the Alleys start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Istanbul?

    +

On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Istanbul?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Istanbul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
