Gokyo Valley Trek is offers magnificent views of the mountain peaks and the Ngozumpa Glacier– the largest in Nepal’s Himalayas. The view of this region is associated with the soaring views of the most popular mountains in Nepal, at an altitude of 8,000 m such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu which are clearly visible from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake. One of the most remarkable features is the views of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung. After landing at Lukla’s airport, the adventure begins. We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s, we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. We will pass Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other snow towering mountains getting closer by the day. After trekking to Gokyo Ri (5,483 m), we return at a leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.

Gokyo and Renjo La Pass Trek - April 2026
We had an incredible experience on the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass trek. Our guide, Dipak, and the porters were outstanding, professional, friendly, and always looking out for us. When my wife got sick along the way, they were extremely accommodating and flexible, adjusting plans to make sure she was safe and comfortable. Their support made a challenging trek enjoyable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better team. Highly recommend!

Milan and Anil are Ace!
We successfully completed the Gokyo Ri and Renjo La pass trek with the support of our guide, MILAN, and porter, ANIL, from Ace the Himalaya. From the very first initial enquiry to end of the trip, Ace has been highly professional and communicative in a very timely manner. They have great processes in place to help you feel safe and well looked after at all times. Milan is a very experienced guide who is very knowledgeable and has an easy going personality who immediately makes you feel comfortable. He is well known amongst the local trekking community judging by the many many guides and porters who were eager to say hello and have a chat with him along the way. Anil always had a beaming smile and was a pleasure to have in our team. He provided all the support one could expect. I have a greater appreciation for Nepal, its culture, people, and magnificent lands thanks to the many insightful conversations with Milan as we trekked from teahouse to teahouse. This incredible trip couldn’t have been achieved without Milan and Anil and I highly recommend both if you are ever considering a trekking adventure in Nepal.

Clearly experienced and professional with local connections and incredibly good quality guide, Milan.
We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Milan, and porter, Anil. Milan was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and very willing to give us the benefit of his experience so we could maximise our time and make the best of our trip. I was particularly impressed with the natural ease with which Milan engaged with the locals, smoothing the way and removing all the small friction points that one typically experiences when travelling in a country and culture which is not their own. Booking and communication with Ace was easy, uncomplicated and thorough. Our pre-trip briefing was informative and gave me confidence they had the experience and knowledge needed to facilitate a great trip. As it happened, we had wonderful weather, but Ace ensured we were prepared either way. I appreciated this approach.

Amazing time on the Gokyo and Renjo La Pass Trek
We had an amazing time on the Gokyo and Renjo La Pass trek in Feb/March 2026. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu, Ace were on hand to help with everything - making the logistics for the trek as stress free and smooth as possible. Ishwor, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about Nepal and the Khumbu region. He worked tirelessly to ensure we had the best time in the mountains. He was extremely professional and helped us navigate the altitude, cold and Lukla flights with ease. I can’t recommend Ace (and Ishwor) enough. We are already planning our next trip to Nepal and trek with Ace.

Gokyo Valley Trek: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does Gokyo Valley Trek cost?
+
Prices start at $2,000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Gokyo Valley Trek take?
+
Plan for about 360 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is Gokyo Valley Trek worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Gokyo Valley Trek?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Gokyo Valley Trek suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 360-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Gokyo Valley Trek?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 360-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Gokyo Valley Trek start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kathmandu Sightseeing | UNESCO World Heritage sites Private/Group, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek: Private Group & Discounte Price. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Gokyo Valley Trek?
+

Not included: Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu; Travel insurance which covers emergency high-altitude rescue and evacuation; International airfare; and Nepal entry visa. Does Gokyo Valley Trek include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered, or you can meet at the start point instead from 3 listed pickup locations in and around Kathmandu. Be ready about 180 minutes before the start time.
What languages is Gokyo Valley Trek offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
