Gobeklitepe
Göbeklitepe, which means "belly hill", is the oldest known temple in human history and the first religious center on earth. Approximately 20 temples have been discovered in the region, and so far, six temples have been unearthed. The level of soil at the location of the building shows that the building was buried by human hands, not naturally. Göbeklitepe was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018 and included in the World Heritage List. You can see at least 15 buildings and more than 200 obelisks, T-shaped columns, whose lengths between 3 and 6 meters, are thought to be stylized human figures. 3-dimensional lion relief. These figures strengthen the possibility that lions lived in Anatolia during the Neolithic period. The discovery of Göbeklitepe is an indication that settled life was passed through the temple, not agriculture. Before Göbeklitepe, all history books stated that the transition to settled life occurred with the emergence of farming and animal husbandry.

Mevlid-i Halilulrahman MagarasI
Experience the beauty of Abraham Pool and its cave through scenic views and nature walks. Balıklıgol, the Pool of Abraham, is famous for its significance in Jewish and Islamic legends, where it is believed that Nimrod threw Abraham into a fire. The Cave of Abraham is a famous pilgrimage site in Urfa, believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Abraham. Devotees go there to pray and pay their respects to one of history's most revered prophets. The cruel King Nimrod ordered all newborn children to be killed upon learning of Abraham's coming birth, so he spent about ten years of his life in the cave as protection. A praying area has been constructed inside the cave, but the exact spot where Abraham was born is protected by a glass enclosure. There are also faucets inside the cave where devotees can wash their hands with holy water. To enter the cave, you must go through the same courtyard as the Mevlid-i Halil Mosque.

Gobeklitepe Tour from Istanbul.
I took this tour with daRoute Travel accompanied by some family members in a group. WOW! What an excellent tour! It was a full day tour out of Istanbul and from an early pick-up at our hotel to drop off back at our hotel that night it was a perfectly planned and managed tour. Transfers to airports, planned stops and attractions on the way, lunch stop were all well executed by the attentive Tour management, local guide and bus driver. The local guide Yusuf was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and personable - he shared some of his life experiences with us together with much humour, laughter and humanity. The archeological excavation site was very remote, relatively easy to walk and with some shade cover - absolutely appreciated in the hot conditions we experienced in July. Yusuf gave a very interesting commentary of the history of the 10,000 + year civilization that once lived there and on the dig operations (both at the site and at the Museum afterwards). Our vehicle was late model, clean and air-conditioned and safely driven by Ahmet. All arrangements with our group was through Mahmut who treated us as if we were his only tour that day - it was an easy, well managed and interesting tour that exposed us to a knowledge of ancient civilizations we were not previously aware of. I would hold no hesitation in recommending daRoute Travel and this tour to any traveler to Türkiye.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this amazing and heartfelt review 🌟 We’re truly delighted to hear that you and your family had such a memorable experience and that every part of the journey—from planning to guiding—met your expectations. Your kind words about Yusuf, Ahmet, and the overall organization mean a great deal to us. It was a pleasure arranging this tour for you, and we’re honored by your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to Türkiye again for another unforgettable journey with daRoute Travel. Warm regards 🙏

Gobeklitepe tour from Istanbul
We travelled as a family group of 4 (retirees). This tour perfectly catered for our desire to see this ancient site while we had a few free days in Istanbul. It was a private tour for just us. daRoute Travel had the perfect tour that collected us from our hotel, took us to the airport, had an air-conditioned van on arrival at Sanliurfa, driver (Ahmed) and tour guide (Yusef) to look after us for the day. We experienced an authentic and delicious breakfast on arrival, had a very informative tour of the Gobeklitepe archeological site and museum. We did not feel rushed. The site was very thoroughly explained to us by Yusef. He is a local man so he could give us an insight into the history of not only this site but also the area in which it is situated. After another delicious meal for lunch, we visited the old walled city, Abraham’s pool and cave. We saw local markets and sampled local cuisine and treats. Yusef was very knowledgeable, his English was perfect for us and he even serenaded us with some local songs. His laughter was one memory I shall always remember. 🤣 At the end of the tour, we were again dropped back at the airport for our flight back to Istanbul and the van back to our hotel. It was a very long day. But I cannot emphasise enough how awe inspiring it is to visit such an ancient site and discover relics from over 10,000 years ago. Added to this wonderful day was that the owner of daRoute Travel (Mahmut) also accompanied us from Istanbul for the whole trip. He ensured we had a wonderful day and managed to take great photos on his phone and with his drone. We were very fortunate indeed to find this tour and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting this site. Be prepared for a long, hot yet fulfilling day. 5⭐️
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! 🌟 We’re truly happy to hear that you enjoyed your Göbeklitepe experience and felt well looked after throughout the day. It means a lot to know that Yusuf, Ahmed, and Mahmut helped make the journey informative, comfortable, and memorable. Your kind words and recommendation really motivate our team. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Türkiye!

Gobeklitepe tour from Istanbul
I took this tour with 3 family members. daRoute Travel in Istanbul organised this day trip, first with pickup from our hotel in the very early morning and travel to the airport. Mahmut, daRoute's owner, also accompanied us on this incredible journey which enriched our experience. We were collected by a comfortable airconditioned small van upon arrival in Sanliurfa and our very knowledgeable local tour guide, Yousif, and then taken to a lovely local cafe where we enjoyed breakfast. We then headed to the Gobeklitepe archeological site and Museum which was only a short ride away. It was a very hot summer's day with temperatures reaching into the high 40s which did challenge me at times as 60+ year old woman. However, the dig site was undercover which definitely helped along with keeping hydrated. The site was amazing and there was sufficient time allowed for Yousif to impart his knowledge regarding the history of the area - it is understood people occupied this particular site over 10,000 years ago. The day was planned very well by daRoute and our local tour guide, Yousif, was excellent and had a good sense of humour which we appreciated. Our van driver, Ahmet also looked after us with comfort stops when needed. After the tour we were driven back to the airport for our return flight back to Istanbul and then back to our hotel. All our needs were met throughout the entire day and it was a day full of unforgettable memories. I would highly recommend this Gobeklitepe day trip organised by Mahmut and daRoute Travel.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review 🌿 We’re truly happy to hear that you and your family had such a memorable experience in Göbeklitepe. It means a lot to us that the planning, guiding, and overall comfort made the journey enjoyable despite the summer heat. Your kind words about our team are greatly appreciated. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope to welcome you back to Türkiye again for another unforgettable journey. Warm regards from all of us at daRoute Travel 🙏

My great Sanliurfa experience!
We had a great time in this tour. Our guide Yosuf was awesome! He shared with us a lot of information about Gobeklitepe and helped us find the places for good pictures around the ruins. He shared with us the traditions of the local people from Sanliurfa, he took us to the local market which we really enjoyed! We had a little hiccups once we arrived at night back to the Istanbul airport where the pick up person was not in time to pick us up (it seems the flight was a little ahead of time), and it was late at night (around 10:45 pm), so we took an uber back to our hotel after waiting for about 45 minutes at the airport. However, Mr. Mahmut, one of the agents from daRoute Travel contacted us and was very helpful and apologetic, and reimbursed us for the uber ride. I felt in love with Sanliurfa and its people, everyone was so friendly! I hope I get to return one day! I feel that daRoute travel did a great job arranging our tour and took care of us after the transfer hiccups. Mr Yusuf (our guide) and Mr. Mahmut were a pleasure to work with!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for sharing your experience 🌸 We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that Yosuf made Göbeklitepe and Şanlıurfa so memorable for you with his knowledge and local insights. We also truly appreciate your understanding regarding the transfer hiccup and are glad we could resolve it quickly. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and it makes us happy to know you felt well taken care of. We’d be more than happy to welcome you back to Şanlıurfa and Türkiye again in the future. Warm regards from all of us at daRoute Travel 🙏

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul take?
+
Plan for about 14 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 14-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Gobeklitepe Tour From Istanbul start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
