What you get

    About this experience

Ghorepani Ghandruk trek lies in Gandaki Province between the lake city Pokhara and the northern Himalayas. This trek is named after two Gurung ethnic villages dwelt by the Brave Gurkhas in the popular Annapurna region. Most of the male members of these villages are involved in the British and Indian Army, so called the Gurkhas. Walking along the easy trail through the lush oak and rhododendron forests, you can have the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas. The snow capped peaks of Annapurna (8,091 m) Massif and Dhaulagiri (8,0167 m) Massif are the incredible gift of this trek. Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Mt. Nilgiri and Singa Chuli add up something to the unforgettable trekking in the Pokhara Valley. To begin this trek, you can fly or drive to Pokhara along the Prithvi Highway built on the banks of two major rivers. The blacktopped road continuously runs through the banks of the Trishuli River and the Marsyangdi River. The roadway travel gives you the alluring view.

    Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek

Myself and my son did the Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek which include extra time in Kathmandu for a cultural tour and farewell dinner. This is a good trek for those with limited time and want an introduction to the Annapurna region. The views were stunning and dawn at Poon Hill was a highlight. We had never done a trek before or even visited Nepal so we did not know what to expect. We were very thankful that, tour owner, Shailesh, was there to meet us at the airport with a smile and then made life easy for us from that point onwards. Nothing was too hard to organise in preparation for the trek and we were kept well informed on what to expect. A bonus is that there is a reasonable amount of flexibility to alter the suggested itinerary both before and during the tour. Our trekking guide, Ratna, was a perfect host educating us about the region and the people as we went. Also he let us maintain the pace that was comfortable for us as well as giving tips about diet such as what to avoid eating. I was very appreciative when my son got sick (nothing too serious) on day 4 and Ratna provided a cure with his expertise. Another bonus for us was Shailesh and Ranjana hosting a traditional dinner for us and personally taking us to the cable car. Also thanks for getting us to the airport effectively after our tour had officially finished. Looking forward to booking another trek next year. Tip: I would suggest taking the minimum baggage with you to Nepal and either buy or rent trekking clothing and equipment in Kathmandu as pricing is incredibly cheap.

    Annapurna Circuit Trek

It's a pilgrimage hike during peak season. Alot of hikers on the trail. Whether it's crowded or not, the amazing experience of trekking from teahouse to teahouse would be the same. My best experience was having an examplar host, an experienced guide and the friendly porters. Shilus, the Nepal Trekking Routes host was so attentive. He paid attention to our needs and took care of our requests. My guide, Nawin Pokharel, was very experienced with the trail and very relaxed. He allowed the flexible iteniery to accommodate the difference pace of the hikers, which allowed me to soak in the beautiful sceneries and breathe in the fresh air. He also attempted his best to allow taking breaks at the popular stops/town so we can taste the local foods/snacks, like apple pie & apple cider/juice @ Manage Valley. That moment is one of most memorable of trekking. And our Porters, Sundess & Bishu are friendly and took care of our needs during our visits @ the teahouse. Overall, I had an amazing experience on the Annapurna Circuit and definitely will have another adventure with Nepal Trekking Routes.

    Amazing Experience in Nepal

This was my first time traveling to Nepal. There were a lot of uncertainties with not only the long trek but also with all the covid-related travel restrictions. Shailesh went above and beyond and helped me navigate through all of my uncertainties and hurdles even way before I arrived in Nepal. I was able to enjoy Nepal upon initial landing because all the transportation and accommodations were taken cared of for me ahead of time. The trek I did is the Annapurna Panoramic Trail and it was led by my guid Nawin. I literally have nothing negative to say about my guide or the trek. Nawin really looked after me during the entire trek; from constantly paying attention to how I was breathing and my footsteps (so he could adjust our trekking pace accordingly), to always making sure I get the best room in all of our mountain lodges, he is honestly one of the greatest, down to earth and selfless person I've encountered. As a Taiwanese-American, Nawin also helped me navigate through the cultural differences and unknown that I encountered as well. The trek itself isn't easy, but relatively not too difficult compared to Everest basecamp. Every morning, I am greeted by the golden sunrise that blends beautifully with the mountains and clouds. I know I will remember the 6 days worth of trek for a really, really long time. The only item I want to mention is that there are some additional costs that are not accounted for in this booking and are extra expense. Specifically from my trip, it was the travel expense to and from Pokhara as well as the last 2 night's stay. If I come back to Nepal, I would love to have Shailesh and Nawin help with my trip again. All the best.

Response from the operator: Hi Eddie “Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We Nepal Trekking Routes team to keep up the amazing work.”

    A Solo Walk to Remember

4 days/ 3 nights spent amid the beautiful hills of Annapurna region of Nepal by the arrangement of Nepal Trekking Routes . I think one of the top notch operator available in Nepal . Their experience is their strength . Most of the arrangements exceeded the expectations, even though the price was in the higher side . My guide Mr Nawin Pokharel is an energetic amicable youth, really more than a guide. Taking care and guiding are some art , learnt from Mr Nawin . Best of Luck to Nepal Trekking Route !

Response from the operator: Hello & Namaste from Nepal Trekking Routes! We are ecstatic to read that you enjoyed every assistance throughout the trek, years and years of experience is what counts the most- our guides are expert and experienced- they know the nitty-gritty of the Himalayas. And most importantly we take care of our clients from the very first contact until they are back home safe. Once again thank you for your beautiful words and comprehensive review. We hope to serve you in the near future.

Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek) cost?

    +

Prices start at $590 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek) take?

    +

Plan for about 264 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 264-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek)?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 264-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek ( Poon Hill circuit, Annapurna sunrise view trek) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
