Great to learn the Troy is here
It was great experience in Çanakkale, where the ancient legendary city Troy ! The guide is knowledgeable, the driver took a long journey to service us to and from Istanbul
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this excellent review! Thank you once again for choosing Sultanahmet Old City Travel Agency like our numerous past clients. We have been arranging tours in turkey since 2015, with a great success, we are so proud of it, and we are so glad after receiving such glowing reviews from our clients like yours. Hope to see you again in Istanbul.

Long drive and hot and exhausted.
The one way trip takes 4 hours. The Trojan horse is under repair. We were taken to a replica of the Trojan horse for just 5 minutes of photo taking. I was disappointed. It wasn’t mentioned in their itinerary that the real one is under repair. The lunch included is nothing to rave about. No drinks included.

Good tour, bad drive back
Good actual tour, lots of good history provided (my husband studied Ancient History so we feel able to judge critically and the guide was good), nice to take the ferry across the by the Dardanelles. However, the driver on the way back left a lot to be desired. The place he stopped for food served genuinely some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten and in Turkey that takes special effort because almost all food is delicious. He also decided to drop our family, the only group with a kid, off dead last at 9:40 at night, after dropping couples and individual adult travelers off earlier— including when our hotel was literally about a 2 minute drive from other stops he made earlier and after which he then drove back across the water over by the Tower, and then back to Sultanahmet dropping us off dead last— strapped with a more-tired-than-needed kid because he’d been riding around in the van for an extra 30-40 minutes beyond what was needed. Tour operator should tell drivers to prioritize dropping off families first, and find a better stopping point on the way back. Food was just horrifically bad.

Too far to go for a short tour
Everything was pretty much as advertised. However, having done the tour it just didn’t seem worth spending the whole day cooped up in a van for what was essentially a one hour tour around the small site at Troy. The food, stops along the way etc were nothing special. Confirming we left the hotel at around 6:30am and were back at 9:30pm. The drivers, guides and quality of the transportation were all good. I think you just have to really want to go to Troy.

Great tour; not great return trip
Tour of Troy itself is great; nice to take the ferry. Only real way to do this in one day from Istanbul, I think. However, the driver on the way back made some strange choices like driving on an unpaved farm road rather than the clearly immediately visible highway to Istanbul. May have slowed us down, and we were running behind schedule then anyway. Rest stop on the way back was BAD— terrible food, some of the worst I’ve eaten anywhere in the world. I’m sure better options were available (Turkey has great food!). Also super unhelpful that the driver left us, the family with the young overtired child LAST to drop off, crisscrossing Sultanahmet several times before he dropped us off at 9:30PM. It would have been nice if an effort had been made to drop the tired kid and his tired parents off the roughly 30- minutes before when the first guests were dropped off just down the street (if we’d realized, we would have gotten out there and walked instead of crossing the bridge to over by the tower and then back to Sultanahmet for three more stops before we were the last ones to be dropped off), but we did not until it was too late. If you do this with a kid in tow, insist on being dropped off first…

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included cost?
+
Prices start at $189 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included take?
+
Plan for about 15 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 15-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 15-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Troy Tour from Istanbul: Lunch Included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
