Excellent

The driver was excellent and also a very good guide. He knew all the animals very well. We saw leopards four times — two from a distance and two much closer. I would highly recommend this company to everyone. We were very happy with the experience.

An unforgettable full-day safari at Yala, and the birthday surprise made it perfect

Based on the very good reviews on TripAdvisor, and hours of researches, we booked a full-day safari with Janaka Safari Jeep Tour by ourselves and it turned out to be one of the highlight of our 3-week trip to Sri Lanka. From start to finish, everything was handled with care, professionalism, and a genuine warmth that made us feel looked after the whole day. Our driver, Srimal, was absolutely exceptional. He knew exactly where and when to go, and he went above and beyond to give us the best possible views of the wildlife. We saw an incredible range of animals, including leopards, with one just a few metres from the jeep, drinking in a natural pool tank, a moment none of us will ever forget. His patience, sharp eye, and knowledges about wildlife made all the difference. A couple of honest observations (and this is in no way the company’s fault) for anyone planning their own trip. First, there are a lot of vehicles in the park, and there’s often a real rush early in the day as everyone races to spot the leopards. That said, Yala is so vast that the crowds thin out as the day goes on, and the landscapes are simply sublime. Second, there’s a mandatory two-hour break at midday that applies to every company (almost certainly a park regulation), which does cut into the day too much in my opinion. If you’re after a deeper, more immersive experience, I’d imagine the multi-day option is the way to go, allowing you to venture further into the more remote parts of the park.. The food provided was delicious, fresh, and generous. But what truly touched us was the personal thoughtfulness: they had decorated the vehicle with balloons in the morning and surprised our son with a birthday cake at lunch. It was such a kind gesture, and it turned an already amazing day into a truly memorable celebration for our whole family. We’re a Swiss family with no connection to the company other than having been genuinely delighted customers and we recommend Janaka Safari Jeep Tour without hesitation!
