Not the best
This was a long day (12 hours) for what felt like very little time at the places of interest. We had just over 2 hours on Contoy, and then just over 1 hour on Mujeres. Not sure I could recommend given the amount of time spent either on the bus or waiting for people. We were picked up from our hotel over 3 hours before we arrived at Contoy. Contoy itself is great if you’re looking for pristine beaches - you cannot go off onto the island so need to be OK with sitting at the beach the whole time. There are lots of biting insects and it’s prohibited to wear repellent or sun lotion (even reef safe), and there is limited shade available on the beach.
Response from the operator: Laura. We are sorry to hear that your experience was not perfect. Unfortunately reaching Contoy Island requires fairly lengthy logistics, both on land and at sea. Since it is a protected nature reserve we are restricted by national regulations as to what we are allowed to do at the location. it is a beautiful, pristine sanctuary that most people enjoy, even with limited access. Part of the experience is being on the Caribbean Sea as we travel between islands. Once again our sincere apologies if the experience did not meet your expectations.

Bucket List Trip!
We had such a great time on the boat - the water around the islands is the best Caribbean Blue that you can imagine! This was a bucket list item that was sooooo worth it! First we went snorkeling in incredibly crystal clear water - you can see for miles everywhere around you. Luckily, the sea was fairly calm so we got to stay in the water for about 40 minutes. Contoy island is just amazing! We stopped off to visit and had a guided tour of a part of the island and saw so many beautiful birds! It is wonderful that it’s a nature reserve protected by the Mexican government. Then we visited Isla Mujeres, which is bustling with tourists but was a must see! We strolled through the streets and bought some nice gifts to take home. All in all, it was a great day out and the crew really looked after us the whole time!
