Misleading Description
The three star rating is for the tour company, not the tour guide. Our guide, Ze, was very good and knowledgeable and personable. She told us a lot of interesting information and definitely knew the area well. The problem was the tour description and the setup of the tour itself. The title of the tour stated "red carpet" and "luxury minibus." This was definitely not red carpet status. First, the tour company sent a message on WhatsApp to change the start time of the tour to an earlier time. If I had wanted an early time I would have booked it. Secondly, nowhere in the description did it say that this was actually a walking tour! I would not have booked this tour if I had known it was a walking tour. The reasoning given was that cars are not allowed in the old city. Okay. Fine. It should say so in the description. The walking distance between the mosques and museum was bearable. The walking distance to the Grand Bazaar was told to us as a 20 minute walk one-way. When we asked whether the car could bring us there, that was "not possible" because of traffic. Too bad. Our guide suggested that if we didn't want to walk, she could take us on the public tram. Definitely not "red carpet." The tour didn't include tickets for each site either and we had to pay cash for those to the guide. All of these things should be stated in the tour description and not in a message after booking. I 100% would have booked a different tour for our group had I known all of this. We would have been willing to pay more for minibus transport during the tour rather than just transfers to and from the cruise port. And even when the driver dropped us off, he stopped right in the middle of the street! We all felt like there could have been more done to accommodate our requests.
Response from the operator: Dear Kristin, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about your guide, Zeynep. We are delighted to hear that you found her knowledgeable, personable, and informative throughout your visit. We are, however, sorry to hear that some aspects of the tour did not meet your expectations. Regarding the earlier start time, the day of your tour was exceptionally busy due to the arrival of a cruise ship. To help you avoid long queues at the major attractions and provide a more comfortable experience, we suggested starting earlier for your convenience. This was never intended to inconvenience you, but rather to make the most of your time in Istanbul. As for the walking portion of the tour, vehicle access is prohibited in the Historic Peninsula and between the main attractions, including the mosques and other landmarks. All of these sites are within walking distance of one another, and this is also stated in the tour description. Unfortunately, it is not possible for vehicles to drive between these locations due to local regulations. Regarding the Grand Bazaar, traffic restrictions and congestion in the area often make it impossible for vehicles to reach the entrance efficiently. For guests who prefer not to walk, our guides offer the public tram as an alternative, which is the fastest available option under these circumstances. We also appreciate your comments regarding the entrance fees and the wording of the tour description. Your feedback is valuable, and we will review the listing to ensure that all details are communicated as clearly as possible so future guests know exactly what to expect. Thank you once again for your constructive feedback. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on another tour and provide an experience that better matches your expectations.

Best guide, truly!
The Golden Standard of Guides – A 9-Hour Masterclass in Istanbul (with humor and grace!) If you are reading this, stop searching. You have found the guide. We spent nine unforgettable hours with Kemal Aslan in Istanbul, and frankly, it felt less like a tour and more like exploring the city with a brilliantly witty, impossibly knowledgeable friend who just happens to hold advanced degrees in Turkish history and speaks 5 languages. From the moment we met him, his perfect English (idioms, humor, and all) put us at ease. But what truly floored us was the depth of his knowledge. Every single question we threw at him—whether about the logistics of a Byzantine cistern, the symbolism in a single Iznik tile, or the marital politics of a sultan—was met with a fascinating, pertinent, and story-rich answer. He doesn’t just recite dates; he weaves the tapestry of Turkish and Ottoman culture into every mosque, every street, every sip of tea and coffee. And the humor? A godsend. Nine hours is a long time, but we had non-stop banter. He has that rare gift of being deeply scholarly without a trace of stuffiness. He made the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Theodosian walls feel alive, told us the spots to avoid, and helped us with shopping advice. What truly sets him apart, however, is his grace and adaptability. He read our energy levels like a book. When we were buzzing, we charged ahead. When jet lag hit, he found the perfect quiet garden for tea, telling stories while we rested. He planned every activity around us, not a rigid script. No rushing, no fatigue—just a perfectly paced, magical day. If you want a guide who is unfailingly capable, gracious, funny, relatable, and so brilliant you’ll feel smarter just walking beside him—book Kemal Aslan. He didn’t just show us Istanbul. He made us fall in love with it.

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 58 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus?
+
Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day City Tour with Private Tour Guide and Red Carpet Treatment with Luxury Minibus start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
