Great Guide/Great Guy
I cant begin to speak highly enough of JJ. I was lucky enough to fish with him along with my 8 year old son and wife (she did not fish). The Boat was badass and huge by Montana standards and he handled like the pro he is. JJ knew where the fish were and put them on us fast. BEST part is how he helped my son catch a ton of huge fish. He let my son cast, drift, hook and land them and helped him be a better fisherman while I fished and mostly watched my son kill it:). He even engaged my wife in friendly conversation and made her feel welcome and included. We all want to go back tomorrow to see our new friend in Cooper Landing. Hes a great dude and I learned from him about many things beyond just fishing. I only hesitate to review him because it could make it harder for me to fish with him. My son says: Amazing guide, he helped me catch some of the biggest fish in my life, which is is not saying much - I'm only eight. he an amazing teacher! Thank you JJ!

This float very much exceeded our expectations.
We had an outstanding trip with Matt. We caught Sockeye, Rainbows and Dolly Varden. My father in law, Dennis, and I landed more than 14 fish each and had a few get away but not without a fun fight. Matt was especially accommodating to Dennis’ limited mobility. Even when the other 3 of us fishing did some wading and fishing from the bank, Matt positioned and anchored up so that Dennis wasn’t left out of the action. This outfit has great equipment and knowledge of the Kenai. I’m already Jonesing to go again and hopefully I can go with this guide again.

Great time on the Kenai!
We have been fishing with JJ and his team for years, booking multiple days each year. Each year, we typically have someone in our group that has never held a fly rod. JJ does an excellent job helping our first timers with the proper technics and makes sure they catch plenty of fish. I'm looking forward to our next trip with JJ and Brandon.
Response from the operator: Thanks for fishing with us again, We really appciate our return guests and are very grateful you guys come back year after year! see you next season. Walter will be waiting.

Fishing the Canyon
What an amazing day trout fishing! These guides know where the fish are and how to catch them. Two of us caught and released at least nine fish between 20 and 26 inches; and plenty less than 15. These guides fish top level gear, are professional and very accommodating. I highly recommend fishing with Kenai River Trout Anglers. A special thank you to our guide, Mike! He worked hard for us and loves what he does.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Canyon fishing trip: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Soldotna.
How much does Full Day Canyon fishing trip cost?
+
Prices start at $325 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Soldotna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Canyon fishing trip take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Soldotna is not rushed.
Is Full Day Canyon fishing trip worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Soldotna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Canyon fishing trip?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Full Day Canyon fishing trip suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Canyon fishing trip?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Soldotna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Soldotna and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Canyon fishing trip start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Soldotna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Soldotna?
+
On Outty we rank every Soldotna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full day fishing trips, Kenai River Fishing Charter, Full-Day Upper Kenai River Guided Fishing Trip. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Soldotna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Soldotna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
