Marilyn and Gerber were the best tour guides!

Best tour ever! Marilyn and Gerber were on time, kept us informed throughout the entire trip, and made the experience so exciting. I travel solo, and they made me feel very comfortable and welcome. They were also bilingual, which was perfect! I absolutely love El Salvador, and I loved this tour. I would definitely come back and highly recommend them!

Santa Ana volcano and lake tour

Special thank you to our driver Herbert and our guide Marilyn for giving us a great hiking experience. Both of them provided clear English descriptions through the trip, and the service was professional and top notch. Our BnB stay was 1km away from the designated pick up hotel, and with early communication, the tour coordinator Gabriel (thank you) and the driver Herbert were very accommodating to pick us up at our BnB. We will be glad to request their services again without hesitation.

Great day hiking Santa...

Great day hiking Santa Ana volcano. View at the top was spectacular. Our driver Herbert was on schedule, professional and shared lots of info about El Salvador. Our guide for the hike was Garbriel and he was fantastic. We also learned so many things about the history of El Salvador, volcanos, birds and vegetation. Their English was impressive. I definitely recommand this tour.

Great experience on the Santa Ana Volcano & Lake Coatepeque tour

The early morning pick-up was very well organized. They have suggested pick-up locations, but they were also very flexible and helpful in arranging a pick-up closer to my accommodation - you just have to contact them and ask. :) The bus ride there and back was comfortable, and the Santa Ana Volcano hike itself was really beautiful. The pace was good, with enough breaks for everyone, even for people who might find the hike a bit more challenging. At the top, we had around 30 minutes, which was enough time to enjoy the amazing view and take some photos. After the hike, it was only a short bus ride to a restaurant by Lake Coatepeque, where you can order lunch and even go jet skiing if you want to. Overall, it was a top experience. The group leaders were experienced, very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Cancelled tour

This tour company cancelled my tour of Santa ana volcano 4 days before the date of said tour claiming it was due to forecasted bad weather. Weather app shows good weather?? Other tours have availability on the same day. Not sure what real reason was, better to be honest though.

Response from the operator: Dear Mary, Thank you for your feedback. The decision to cancel was based on forecasted rain, wind, and our recent reports showing limited visibility at Santa Ana Volcano, with the view often covered by clouds. In these conditions, the weather can change quickly there with some rains at the top. We informed you several days in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience. We would have loved to operate the hike, but we prefer to cancel rather than take you and provide a disappointing experience. Safety and quality always come first for us. We hope to welcome you in the future. Warm regards, Infini Tours Team

From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Salvador.

How much does From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque cost?

+

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Salvador usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Salvador is not rushed.

Is From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Salvador, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Salvador can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Salvador and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From San Salvador: Best Santa Ana Volcano Tour & Lake Coatepeque start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Salvador within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Salvador?

+

On Outty we rank every San Salvador experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Day Tour: Santa Ana Volcano Hiking + Lake Coatepeque, San Salvador Tour: Devil’s Door, Volcano, Slide & Historic Center, Santa Ana Volcano Early Morning Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Salvador?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Salvador?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
