Bad cheese tour great ham experience
THE CHEESE FACTORY 2 stars-Our family of 5 (3 teenagers) visited this cheese plant. All but one area of the tour was explained behind glass windows. It was not what we thought we were in for but made the best of it. At 4 madonne caseificio dell'emilia we had a very informative tour although dry and not very friendly in my opinion. Once you are at the plant it is not a private tour. One of the others on the tour noticed women were not working in the production line. She asked, are there any women workers? The response was, “This work is too heavy for women. Women can’t do this job.” All the women on your looked at one another in shock. I had to respond, that I carried 50 pound toddler twins on my hips with no problems. Nevertheless, a little more passion, and desire to interest the group would have been welcomed. I truly felt like we were on a conveyor belt. The tasting of the products themselves was kept rather sterile. They walked us into a room and no explanation of anything in front of was offered, we had to ask. We felt that maybe we could’ve sat down and been walked though the plate. Standing there with a plate of cheese and no explanation did not make for a good experience at all. Once we receive a begrudging response the woman simply left. There was no direction of there being a shop to visit. I went back to ask about purchasing a wheel and was told customs would not allow it to be shipped I later found out on the subsequent part of the tour this was not true. The cheese was good. THE HAM FACTORY - 5 stars This tour saved the day. Our guide was very engaging and thoughtful of the group. Mattia was excellent and well-trained guide, he was able to let us enter the working and productive world of a ham factory; very nice and above all kind servers who went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing meal experience, and the hams presented were all delicious. highly recommend going to Salumificio La Perla. I would give them 10 stars if I could. OUR DRIVER A very nice gentleman who wanted us to feel welcomed. He was very respectful and we appreciated his efforts and safe ride in the rain. It was our first time in this region and he did not speak English. A two hour silent drive where we wish we could have learn more about the region. Given the experience the overall I don’t think the price of the tour is in line.

Is From Bologna: Parma Parmigiano and Prosciutto Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bologna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Bologna: Parma Parmigiano and Prosciutto Private Tour?
+

Is From Bologna: Parma Parmigiano and Prosciutto Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Bologna: Parma Parmigiano and Prosciutto Private Tour?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bologna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bologna and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Bologna?
+
On Outty we rank every Bologna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bologna Food Experience: Factory tours & Lunch By Italian Days, Bologna Local Pasta Cooking Class, Ragu, Spritz, Wine & Gelato, Bologna: Pasta and Tiramisu Small Group Cooking Class with Wine. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bologna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bologna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
