    What you'll see and do

    1. See that big red buoy straight ahead? It’s hard to miss, as it’s the last thing you’ll see before the ocean. This marks the southernmost point in the Continental United States! Well, sort of. Let me explain. NOTE: The tour is over 100+ miles long, with more than 70+ audio stories, and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. New, Lifetime access, no expiry. Use it anytime, on any trip, as many times as you want.

    2. The Historic Cedar House is coming up on our right. It’s pretty hard to miss, given the name! Why do they call it the Cedar House? Take a look at the house and the fence surrounding it. That’s right, they’re both made out of cedar. This is one of the only homes in Key West made entirely out of cedar.

      Pass by without stopping

    3. The Kapok Tree

Ahead on the left we can see the famous Kapok Tree. It’s the big one with wide branches spreading straight out from the trunk. Kapok trees are some of the largest flowering trees in the world, reaching heights of over 200 feet tall. They’re found in warm tropical climates, and considered sacred by many cultures.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    4. The intersection ahead marks the beginning of US Highway One. Mile marker zero stands just ahead on our left. We’ll be approaching from the back of the sign, so make sure you walk around to the front for a better look.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    5. Key West Pirates Well

If you’d like to take a quick detour to a piratical attraction, turn right onto Caroline Street. This will take you to the Captain George Carey house, home to the Pirates Well. The well is just out in front of the house.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    6. On our right stands the Captain George Carey House! Have you ever heard of the “Wreck of the German Brides?” It’s a real thing! A ship wrecked near here in the 1800s and five German women survived. All of them were single, and every one of them ended up marrying a man from Key West!

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    7. Truman Little White House

Take a look to the left. See the sign for Truman’s “Little” Whitehouse? It’s a short walk from here, so if you’d like to check it out, you can follow the signs. But if you don’t, just keep heading down Whitehead Street while I tell you a little about it.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    8. Audubon House & Tropical Gardens

On our right stands the Audubon House and its surrounding tropical gardens. You can’t miss it! Constructed in 1849, this used to be the home of Captain John Geiger, one of Key West’s wealthiest men.

    9. Capt. Tony's Saloon

We’re approaching Greene Street, home to a very special Key West landmark: Captain Tony’s Saloon! The barstools in this establishment bear the names of celebrities who’ve stopped for a drink there. Want to drink at the same bar where Robert DeNiro, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and Clint Eastwood once tossed a few back? This is your place.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    10. On our left stands the new location of Sloppy Joe’s. Time to set the history straight once and for all. As I mentioned, this isn’t the original Sloppy Joe’s. But did you know that neither was Captain Tony’s Saloon? So where was the original?

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    11. The Oldest House Museum & Garden

Believe it or not, that white house with the porch on our right is the oldest house on the island! Built in 1829, it was home to the prominent wrecker, Captain Fracis Watlington, who lived there with his wife and nine daughters. Yes, you heard that right: Nine!

    12. St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Notice the large white church to our left? That’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, one of the area’s most beautiful buildings. You wouldn’t know it by looking, but the church has seen its fair share of tragedy and disasters over the years.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    13. San Carlos Institute

Remember the fire of 1886? The white building with three archways on our right is the San Carlos Institute, and it’s where that fire began! These days it’s a museum, library, theater, and school. Oh, and an art gallery. It’s also been recognized as one of Florida’s most beautiful landmarks.

    Meh

I would choose another method for the tour. There are better options. If you’re going to fast the tour skips ahead. Go to slow and their lots of dead time. Take the conch train or basically any other option.

Response from the operator: Aaron, staying close to the speed limit (doesn’t have to be exact) helps the audio play in sync without skipping ahead or leaving too much quiet time. Please reach out to me between 9 AM and 6 PM EST and let me know more. Happy exploring!

Nice self-paced audio tour that lets you start and stop at various locations easily.

Great low cost tour of some of the most famous places in key West. Technology worked pretty well, and was easily able to select locations out of sequence on a moving map as we wandered around town. Lots of good "inside Key West" trivia included as well.

Response from the operator: Irina, I’m glad you enjoyed my Florida Key West GPS Walking Audio Tour. It’s great you liked exploring at your own pace and jumping between locations. I’m happy you enjoyed the local trivia and insider stories that make Key West special. Great way to see the essentials of Key West.

Great information and very easy to use. You could start and end at any point which was great because the best parking in a crowded area was halfway through the trip. As soon as we got out of the car and called up the app, the narration began with directions to the route. Loved the ability to stop and go into a museum or other attraction, get a drink and then resume your walk. Do go into the Butterfly Conservatory. Best attraction in the Keys

Response from the operator: Mark, I’m really glad to hear that my Florida Key West GPS Walking Audio Tour was easy to use and flexible enough to fit your day, especially with parking in a busy area. It’s great that the narration picked up right where you were and that you enjoyed the ability to stop, explore, and resume whenever you wanted—that’s exactly how I designed my tour. And I love the tip about the Butterfly Conservatory—such a great spot. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience. Pedestrians in Paradise

We did the stops going backward due to our location. That threw off some of the narrative stuff going in reverse order. You can start anywhere, but I recommend going to the stops in ascending order.

Response from the operator: Mike, I’m glad you enjoyed my Florida Key West Walking Audio Tour. You’re right—while you can start anywhere, the narration flows best when following the recommended order so the stories connect smoothly. I appreciate you pointing that out, and I’m happy you still enjoyed the tour. Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Key West.

How much does Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Key West usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Key West is not rushed.

Is Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Key West, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Key West can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Key West and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Florida Key West Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Key West within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Key West?

    +

Key West is a boat town. The only living coral barrier reef in the continental US sits seven miles offshore, and reef trips, sunset catamarans and backcountry kayak runs are the core bookings, alongside Hemingway house and Duval history walks. Our ranking weighs boat capacity and reef site rotation, which separates the good operators from the party cruises. On Outty we rank every Key West experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shark and Wildlife Viewing Adventure in Key West, Southernmost Food & Cultural Walking Tour by Key West Food Tours, Half-Day Trip from Key West with Kayaking, Snorkeling & Sunset. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Key West?

    +

December to April, dry season and calm reef water. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Key West?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
