Don’t miss a chance to take this tour!

If you want to have an incredible experience, you should definitely take this tour with Troy! He picked us up at the hotel, making our lives so much easier than schlepping around Key West to get somewhere on time in an unfamiliar city. We headed out in his extremely comfortable (wonderfully air conditioned!!)van. He gave us restaurant tips along the way, pointed out things that the average tourist might not be aware of and shared the fascinating history about the early days of the Keys. We crossed over several bridges as we traveled through the Keys, getting an interesting lesson on the environment and ecosystems of the region. At Bahia Honda State Park, we saw an historic railroad bridge, iguanas (pretty exciting for city people!), and had time to dip our toes into the amazingly warm water of both the Gulf and Atlantic. From there, we went to Deer Key, where deer just wander through the neighborhood (again, pretty thrilling for city people!). We opted to skip the walk on the 7 mile bridge, but driving over it was thrilling. Our final stop was the Blue Hole. It was a quiet, magical place, with birds and other wildlife. After that, we spent the time being driven back to our hotel, chatting and sharing stories about places we’ve been (Troy is a fascinating guy, with some really interesting stories about living in Alaska and the times he’s sailed all over the world). We both really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to everyone!

Response from the operator: Thank you such a wonderful review! I love showing people a great time! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet the both of you! Please look me up if you ever come back to the keys. Troy

    What a great tour!

Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West, Florida was a fantastic half-day adventure and a great way to experience the natural beauty and history of the Keys. One of the highlights was seeing the Key deer, a protected species that was incredible to observe. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating information about the history of the old railroad and bridge access into Key West, which added to the experience. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views while visiting the Florida Keys! Going to Bahia Honda State Park was also incredible!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the kind words and for spending part of your Keys trip with us. Seeing the Key deer never gets old, and we love getting to share the story of the old Flagler railroad and the original bridges — it’s such a big part of what makes the drive down to Key West special. Bahia Honda is a personal favorite stop too; those views are hard to beat. We really appreciate the recommendation and hope to have you back on board next time you’re in the Keys. Troy

We did an Eco tour with Troy and it was amazing! Troy was friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Keys and the wildlife that lives there. We desperately wanted to see manatees and he made that happen - thank you so much Troy!!! We also saw deer, dolphins, manta-rays, alligators and lots of lovely birds. We came from a cruise and communication and pick up were easy and Troy gave lots of good recommendations for what to do after our tour with him. He also dropped us off at our preferred spot at the end of our tour. If we are lucky enough to come back to Key West we would definitely do another tour with Troy.

Response from the operator: Thanks so much for the awesome review! I’m really glad you enjoyed the Eco Tour — what an incredible day of wildlife sightings! Spotting the manatees was definitely the highlight, and seeing dolphins, rays, alligators, and deer all in one trip made it extra special. I had a great time sharing the history and nature of the Keys with you. Hope you make it back down this way again for another adventure Up The Keys! – Troy

Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Key West.

How much does Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West cost?

    +

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Key West usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Key West is not rushed.

Is Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 117 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Key West, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West?

    +

Around 41 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Key West can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Key West and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Key West within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Key West?

    +

Key West is a boat town. The only living coral barrier reef in the continental US sits seven miles offshore, and reef trips, sunset catamarans and backcountry kayak runs are the core bookings, alongside Hemingway house and Duval history walks. Our ranking weighs boat capacity and reef site rotation, which separates the good operators from the party cruises. On Outty we rank every Key West experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shark and Wildlife Viewing Adventure in Key West, Southernmost Food & Cultural Walking Tour by Key West Food Tours, Half-Day Trip from Key West with Kayaking, Snorkeling & Sunset. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Key West?

    +

December to April, dry season and calm reef water. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Key West?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
