About this experience

It’s hard to resist a glimpse of Michelangelo’s David – the gem of Italian sculptures – at the Accademia Gallery. On this tour you'll get to visit the impressive Renaissance collection. Elena, one of our local guides, says, 'Delve beyond the details of unfinished sculptures and Renaissance art of the gallery. You’ll get a glimpse into the lives of Florence’s Medici family too.' Explore the gallery’s seven halls. Marvel at paintings, frescos and altarpieces and learn why Michelangelo’s unfinished statues still spark curiosity today. The Tribune is where the gallery’s star statue can be found. The colossal statue of David packs a punch, created by 26-year-old Michelangelo from a solid piece of marble. It’s a revolutionary interpretation of David before the act of killing Goliath. Step inside the Museum of Musical Instruments to explore an elegant collection of string and wind instruments including a one-of-a-kind Stradivari viola, decorated with the Medici family crest.

I’ve done this tour twice...

I’ve done this tour twice in a year and a half. The first time was great. Very informative and easy to understand. This last guide was very weak in her English language. I turned off the headphones halfway through.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for choosing to join this tour again. We’re very pleased to hear that your first experience was great and informative, and we truly appreciate your loyalty. At the same time, we’re sorry to learn that your most recent tour did not meet the same standard, particularly regarding the guide’s level of English. We understand how important clear communication is in order to fully enjoy and appreciate a guided experience. All of our guides are selected and trained to deliver high‑quality tours, but your comments highlight an area where we clearly fell short. Please be assured that your feedback will be shared with our team so we can address this and continue improving our service. Thank you again for your honesty, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and restore your confidence in our tours. Kind regards, Customer Service Team

Knowledgeable Guide. No Waiting.

Our guide was wonderful. An art history major she explained about David, and related works. We walked right past all the folks waiting in line. Great experience.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for your kind review! We’re so glad to hear that you had a great experience and that your guide, with her background in art history, was able to offer such insightful explanations about David and related works. Skipping the line and diving straight into the tour is always a plus! We hope to welcome you again for more enriching experiences. Best Regards, Customer Service Team

Fine tour but over priced

The tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. Meeting point is confusing, you go to the small square but then go to the tour shop. Tour was about 45 minutes. I would purchase a ticket directly from the museum if you can. Not sure if it was worth 49 Euro each.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the tour guide and found them knowledgeable. Regarding the duration and value of the tour, we’d like to highlight that a guided visit—even if brief—offers insights, stories, and historical context that you wouldn’t get by simply purchasing a ticket and visiting the site on your own. It really depends on what kind of experience you're looking for: some guests prefer to explore independently, while others appreciate the added depth a guide can provide. We hope the guide’s expertise added value to your visit, and we appreciate your thoughts as they help us improve! Best Regards, Customer Service Team

A must~see

The statue of David is a must-see. Our tour guide was amazing! Her passion for the artwork made the tour even more special.

Response from the operator: Dear valued Guest, Thank you for your very positive feedback. Your comments are very important for us to improve our services and we are glad you had a lovely experience with us and we met your travelling expectations. We appreciate your kind words for our guide and we are happy you enjoyed every part of the tour. We hope to be your choice for your future holiday destinations. Kind regards, Customer Service team

Disappointment

The tour started very late due to latecomers and others failing to turn up at all! We did not like the fact that one of the tour organisers (we presume) tried to force us to join a group with the latecomers who had young children and a crying very young baby. We refused on the basis that we did not pay £80+ to be distracted by a crying baby. The tour operator begrudgingly relented. Our eventual tour guide, Camilla, was pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable however this was not enough to compensate for a tour which only lasted 40 minutes! This tour was not good value for money and we would not recommend. Choose a different company!

Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.

How much does Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $28 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.

Is Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Florence Accademia Gallery & David Small Group Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Florence?

+

On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Florence?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
