There is also a museum that you can visit with a large variety of different species. After a short drive we will ascent to the top of Filerimos Hill, where you will visit the monastery of Our Lady and the remains of the ancient acropolis of Ialyssos, one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes Island. Visitors can walk along a "Golgotha", a tree sheltered pathway with a series of shrines with scenes of the Holly Passion. This foot way leads to an enormous imposing cross, from the top of which one can cherish the outstanding view of villages and bright green valleys that are generously stretched around.

Beautiful places but a horribly long and slow drive with the communal bus
Beautiful places worth visiting. But we were picked up first from Kolymbia so the drive took 2 hours each way with the bus, since people were picked up from all over the island after us. Even on the way back it drove the same route so we had to stay in the bus for 4 hours altogether, when the straight road from Kolymbia to Butterflies Valley would only have taken 30 minutes each way.

disappointed
the visit to Filerimos was disappointing in the only toilets are inside the grounds of the monastery and was told i had to buy a ticket for 10 euros - the visit to butterfly valley is pointless as it is not the season for butterflies ! bit of a wasted trip
Response from the operator: The 10,00 euro that you paid is for the historical site ,if you could explain that you want to visit toilet is free of charge ,the Valley is a place protected by Natura and most of the visitors are coming over 7-8 months to the place because of the amazing microclima and enviroment not only for the butterflies ,this period are few butterflies ,after 15 of June they will be plenty.

Great day out, really good Driver with very clear instructions on what to see and what time to be back.
We had a really good time. At the monastery you could walk around outside, or pay €10 to walk around the monastery grounds and the monastery buildings. Then back to the luxury Aircon minibus and off to Butterfly Vally. We had plenty of time there, the entry to the valley was €3 per adult. We only walked 1/2 of the Vally. We then decided to have a meal at the restaurant on site. Very good food, good value for money. Usually have inflated prices at these type of venues due to their seclusion. Not in this case! Booking was easy, and communication from the agent was very clear as to the pick up point and time. A driver was very helpful and informative. Clearly informed us as to travel times, things to do when we got there and pick up times. The butterflies are only in the valley from mid June to September, but still worth €3 to walk through the valley with bird singing and the relaxing sound of water running.
