About this experience
Variety is the name of the game on this vastly contrasted excursion. Get back to nature at the renowned Butterfly Valley nature reserve, before a visit to the completely unspoilt and sleepy island of Chalki. Journey to Rhodes's fertile interior in the morning, headed to the ecological sanctuary that is Butterfly Valley. Walk under the canopy of the forest, alongside waterfalls and ponds rich in wildlife. From mid-June to mid-September this is home to hundreds of thousands of Callimorpha butterflies, attracted by the resin of its storax trees. They make for quite the spectacle. Afterwards, it's back to the coast where you'll board your boat to Chalki. This sleepy island has pretty houses scattered around the harbour where small fishing boats are moored. Take a walk around and enjoy this idyllic getaway and get a feel for traditional Greek island living. There'll also be time for a refreshing afternoon swim in Chalki's clear waters.

Very disappointing, after several great excursions earlier this week. Although we booked an excursion with a guide, there turned out to be no guide. For the butterfly valley you pay €63 pp in addition to the amount of the excursion, another €6 pp extra. But you only get 55 minutes to visit the butterfly valley. All the way to the top and rushing down in time. If you come with children you don't have time to hike up, let alone enjoy the beautiful nature. Then you will stay 5 hours on Chalki. Stroll to a nice beach like Kania (30 min) and enjoy delicious Greek cuisine. They also have a shuttle bus,

Chalki is a must visit Ireland for a day of your holiday!
Fab day out to the stunning Ireland of chalki with a short stop at the butterfly valley on Rhodes mainland. Chalki is a must see Ireland before you go home, similar vibes to symi Ireland but more peaceful and less lively. Very very traditional, some lovely tavernas to pick from to eat at. Stunning little cove with crystal clear water. But if you want shops then Chalki is not for you, we only found two shops as it's very much a locals Ireland compared to symi that has lots of shops. If you can cope with the heat then it's worth walking up through the village and over the hill along a winding path, past a old white washed church to a beautiful sandy bay just behind, the water is to die for and perfect for snorkeling. Bare in mind that on the tour, you only have so many hours to explore and pick what to do wisely. Crossing took us one hour and was lovely and smooth but I can imagine over winter, may be more choppy and uncomfortable.
Response from the operator: Dear valued Guest, Thank you for your feedback. Your comments are very important for us to improve our services and we are glad you had an overall nice experience with us. We hope to be your choice for your future holiday destinations. Kind regards, Customer Service team

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rhodes.
How much does Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island cost?
+
Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rhodes usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rhodes is not rushed.
Is Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rhodes, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rhodes can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rhodes and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Butterflies and Boat Tour to Chalki Island start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rhodes within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rhodes?
+
On Outty we rank every Rhodes experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Makarounas Fishing Boat Trip with swimming stop and BBQ on board, Rhodes Exclusive Swim Cruise Cocktail Open bar & Gourmet Buffet, Athens cruise: Agistri, Moni/Metopi, Aegina with lunch & drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rhodes?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rhodes?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
