Know before you go
- Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
- Service animals allowed
- Public transportation options are available nearby
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- A minimum of 4 people (2 adults + 2 children) per booking is required (or equivalent payment for smaller groups/families))
- Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
- Although it is very interesting, the city pavement can become very irregular. Also, because the city has many sloped streets (Lisbon is known as the city of 7 hills), it might become a bit difficult for baby strollers and pushchairs. If you need to bring one, make sure it is a light, thin one. Baby carriers, back carriers or woven wraps & slings are a good option for babies and toddlers
- Make sure you and the kids wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A coat or a sweater might be useful even in summer time, because it gets cold after sunset. In summertime, don't forget to bring a hat and sunglasses for all (Lisbon is known by its fantastic bright sunlight) and make sure you apply sunscreen before starting the tour. In winter or rainy weather, don't forget to bring a raincoat
- The total distance walked will be 2,5 miles approximately, including a tram ride on the steepest hill of Bica, if available (please note that the waiting line for the tram can quite long, as the trams depart every 10/15 minutes with a maximum capacity of 22 passengers inside and also the tram may be closed due to unexpected technical issues without prior notice - in these cases the group wil walk down the hill).

Julia was GREAT!!!
Julia was exceptional. A local who truly catered for the needs and attention span of my 11 year old boys, with a personal connection to the city that came through. It was educational, grounding, but most importantly FUN! We loved exploring neighborhoods in the historic center with a lens through history and culture. Julia was lovely, and I would highly recommend you book with her for your private tour needs. You won’t be disappointed!

Centuries of Learning in A Single Morning
From the moment that we met Julia on a hot August morning, our experience and appreciation for her beloved home city of Lisboa was transformed. In the space of just three and a half hours, she passed onto us the kind of nuanced, personal and deeply familiar understanding of Lisbon that most visitors to a city can only dream of, and which represents an immense privilege to all who receive it. The best way I can think of to describe our tour is that normally, as a tourist, you move along the surface layer of a city, but with Julia's expert listening skills and knowledge, she was able to provide us with a tailored tour that enabled us to gaze down through centuries of Lisbon's history, bringing it all vividly to life. We walked through the city for the next few days enriched by the knowledge Julia had shared with us, looking at the city entirely through new eyes and feeling only the deepest gratitude to Julia for her guidance. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Response from the operator: Thank you for this review! We will share it with Julia. We are very happy to know that our tour contributed to your deeper and more honest knowledge of our city! We would love to see you again in Lisbon!

Brilliant Experience for 3 Tours in 3 Days!
Little Lisbon were BRILLIANT! We did 3 tours in 3 days with them, including a day trip to Sintra, and every tour was magnificent. The guides were so imfortative, fun and approachable for our kids. They tailored the activities and energy levels to the kids and they had a brilliant 3 days learning about Lisbon, Sintra and Portugal! Thanks Little Lisbon, your really made our stay magical and memorable!
Response from the operator: Making families happy and creating unforgettable memories is our biggest goal, and receiving reviews like this fills our hearts and inspires us to keep going. Thank you so much! We would love to see you all again in Lisbon in the future!

Great basic tour of Lisbon for families of all sizes, with activities for kids of all ages!
We were a very large family (20 people!) with 8 children ranging from 2 to 9 years old. Mariana was patient and worked hard to make the tour interesting for everyone. With scavenger hunts, objects, matching games, and more, the older kids exclaimed that it was the best tour they've ever been on. And the adults got to explore different neighborhoods at a leisurely rate and get a basic understanding of Lisbon's main historical areas. Would totally recommend for families visiting Lisbon!
Response from the operator: Thank you for this review! It is challenging to guide such a large group, but it's very rewarding to know that everyone enjoyed it, especially the children!

Incredible Tour for Kids!
If you're traveling to Lisbon with kids, Little Lisbon is an exceptional choice for family tours. We took two tours (Sea Heroes in Belém and Essential Lisbon) with them, and both were absolutely fantastic! Each tour offered hands-on experiences that kept our son both entertained and engaged, which is no small feat. The adults in the group also had a wonderful time, as the tours provided fascinating insights into the city's rich history and culture. One of the things we truly appreciated was how thoughtful and accommodating our guide was. Our first tour took place on the very first day of our trip, and our son was understandably tired. Our guide quickly picked up on his need for rest and knew when to give him some space, yet always found the right moments to engage him, making the experience enjoyable for all of us. It was this personalized touch that made a huge difference. Additionally, the tour included some delicious local treats, adding a sweet touch to an already memorable experience. Overall, we can’t recommend Little Lisbon enough. These tours are not just for the kids – adults will find them incredibly enjoyable as well! A perfect way to explore Lisbon and create lasting memories with the whole family. We can't wait for a future visit and will definitely take another tour with Little Lisbon!
Response from the operator: Hello! We can't thank you enough for this review. We are very happy to know that our work has such a positive impact on the families who visit us and we are so grateful that you shared your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back to Lisbon!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Family Tour: Essential Lisbon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Family Tour: Essential Lisbon cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Family Tour: Essential Lisbon take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Family Tour: Essential Lisbon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 58 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Family Tour: Essential Lisbon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Family Tour: Essential Lisbon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Family Tour: Essential Lisbon?
+
Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Family Tour: Essential Lisbon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
