    6. Lovely Borobudur Tours By Asni

We start the tour by bringing our travellers to visit the Sultan’s Palace, also known as Kraton. The palace is the central aspect of the Javanese cosmology by being at the centre of the Mt Merapi and Parangtritis Beach lines. This building constructed between 1756 –1790 is a fine example of traditional Javanese sultanate architecture. Next visit the adjacent Taman Sari, water palace and garden. This addition to the royal complex was built over 200 years ago by the first Sultan with bathing pools for his harem. Continue with Sonobudoyo museum where you can learn about the nation’s decades of heritage by viewing ancient sculptures, fabrics, old ornaments, inscriptions and so much more. Here, you could learn about all the history of Indonesia. We will drop by at PASTY, the well-known bird market among locals. We end the tour at Kota Gede where you will be shown the great cultural activities of Batik and the silver craft factories. The travelers could see the skillful artists’ passion in their craft which helps them to create the perfect results.3.00 PM: Drop off at your hotel

    Discovery of Yogyakarta

Unfortunately the sultan Palace was unexpectedly closed so we could not visit it. The rest of the tour was good. The bird market is really surprising with a lot of animals not just birds. Batik and silver making experiences are interesting.

    The advantage of this tip...

The advantage of this trip is that the driver will drop you to the three sites (of which the museum is the most interesting one), in a fully aircon car. However at each site you will use a local guide so I’m not sure it is as cost effective as using taxis from one of the local apps. If you do go to this tour make sure to ask the driver to do things you would not be able to do otherwise. For instance, I went to the batik factory and a puppet workshop. I’m not sure why the tour is advertised as lasting until 3pm (mine was until 1pm) and it said it would go to Kota Gede, as mine did not.

    City Tour Yogyakarta

The person who picked me up was a driver. His English was not that good.I had to get my own English speaking guide at Yogyakarta Palace Water Castle and Museum Sonobudoyo. When I was finished from the tours it was difficult to find him. He never was were he told me he will be. My tour guides had to help me find him. He took me to the bird and flower market. He never took me to the batik and silver making.

Nice City Tour worth half a day

We went to the Museum, Sultan Palace and Water Palace ( Taman Sari). Museum is fantastic, small but very well designed and maintained. Sultan palace is grand and worth every minute. Guide was good and explained everything in good English. Taman Sari was also good but probably has seen better days. Appears little run down and needs renovation. Batik store was huge, very economical and good selection. This was the best part of our tour and we will be going there tomorrow again. Did lot of purchasing.

    Overview

The tour was a short overview of Jogja I felt it was lacking in depth and only touched the surface. No batik info for instance. The water place was a waste of time. Also the price was advertised in dollars which turned out to be usd. Rather more expensive than original planned.

Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yogyakarta.

How much does Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yogyakarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yogyakarta is not rushed.

Is Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Yogyakarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yogyakarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yogyakarta and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Explore City Tour from Yogyakarta start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yogyakarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Yogyakarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Yogyakarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yogyakarta Private Car Hire with Driver, From Surabaya / Malang : Mt Bromo Sunrise - Ijen Blue Fire 2D1N, Borobudur Full Climb Up And Prambanan ALL INCLUSIVE PRIVATE Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
