Everything We Hoped For and More
We were a group of eight in Positano celebrating a friend’s birthday, and we were looking for exactly the kind of day you dream about on the Amalfi Coast: time on the water, views of Capri, snorkeling, music, drinks, a relaxed atmosphere, and maybe the Blue Grotto if the weather and timing worked out. Excursion Boat Sorrento delivered all of that and more. From the beginning, Alberto was incredibly communicative and thoughtful. He listened to what we wanted, helped us think through options like snorkeling, lunch, and the Blue Grotto, and even suggested moving our departure earlier because the boat traffic and queues were getting heavy. We originally booked for 10:00, but he politely recommended an earlier start. We settled on 9:00, and he was already there waiting for us. The boat was even nicer and larger than it looked in the pictures. It easily fit all eight of us, plus Alberto and Tony, with room to spare. They had ice-cold water, soft drinks, towels, snorkeling gear, and Prosecco ready for us. We connected our music to the boat’s sound system and immediately felt like the day had begun exactly as we hoped: laughing, dancing, and cruising along one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. One of the best parts of the day was how well Alberto read the conditions. He took us straight to a quiet private cove where we were the only boat there, which felt incredibly special. From there, we had cold beers (provided), visited caves, coves, and grottos, swam in beautiful water, and enjoyed a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Alberto and Tony were both an absolute pleasure: warm, fun, professional, and attentive. They clearly wanted us to have a great time, but they were also always mindful of safety, timing, and boat traffic. When we reached the Blue Grotto, the queue was far too long, and Alberto explained the situation honestly. Rather than having us sit in our boat for up to two hours, he talked us through alternatives, including lunch on Capri and a couple of other options. We ended up choosing a restaurant called Tavolo, tucked into a quiet inlet with gorgeous views, shade, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere, including a celebrity or two. It was a little more high-end than we expected, but it was glorious and ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The rest of the excursion was more swimming, dancing, cruising, caves, grottos, sunshine, and friends celebrating together. It was everything we hoped for and honestly much more. Thank you to Alberto, Tony, and Excursion Boat Sorrento for giving us such an incredible day. These are birthday memories we’ll carry with us long after our time on the Amalfi Coast.

Untrustworthy & Poor Communication
I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately this private boat tour from Positano to Amalfi and Capri was one of the most disappointing travel experiences I have had in Italy. The issues began when the skipper was given the €400 fuel surcharge upfront after the first destination. The boat was intentionally driven at an unusually slow speed between destinations, which significantly impacted the overall experience and wasted valuable time during the day charter. The most concerning part was when the skipper incorrectly claimed that Capri was not included in our itinerary, despite the voyage being fully paid for in advance. I was forced to provide screenshots, receipts, and booking confirmations proving that Capri was indeed included in the tour package. Even after the company acknowledged that the skipper was wrong, he still attempted to negotiate by offering to remove €100 from the surcharge instead of honoring the agreed itinerary and taking us to Capri as booked. He pulled out a map a tried To convince me that Capri was too far, even though I had paid to go there. It was only after I directly called the situation what it appeared to be... a scam, that the skipper finally changed his position. Italy is known for incredible hospitality and professionalism, which makes this experience even more unfortunate. A private charter captain should demonstrate honesty, transparency, professionalism, and respect toward guests, especially international travelers. Sadly, this experience reflected none of those qualities. I cannot recommend this service to travelers or anyone expecting a professional private charter experience along the Amalfi Coast. There are many excellent operators in the region, this was not one of them.
Response from the operator: We are sorry to read this review because it does not accurately reflect what actually happened during the tour. First of all, we would like to point out that the other guest who was part of your group personally sent us a message after the experience saying that he greatly enjoyed the tour. We also noticed from one of your WhatsApp messages that you specifically mentioned this negative review was being written because you were the person who paid for the experience, almost suggesting that the 5 minutes required to resolve the misunderstanding were considered excessive. However, through WhatsApp you also thanked us for our professionalism and for the immediate support we provided in clarifying and resolving the misunderstanding right away. First of all, the tour was completed exactly as booked, including Capri. There was only a brief misunderstanding from the skipper regarding the full itinerary, which was immediately clarified after he contacted our office to verify the correct route. The situation was resolved within a few minutes and, once confirmed, the skipper continued the tour exactly as purchased without refusing any destination. No part of the tour that was booked and paid for was denied to you. We would also like to clarify that the itinerary had already been discussed earlier in the day and was initially accepted. If there had been any doubts, they could have been clarified calmly from the beginning. Instead, despite the misunderstanding being resolved almost immediately, the situation quickly escalated with very serious and disproportionate accusations, even though the issue had already been corrected. Regarding the fuel surcharge, this was a standard agreed charge for the requested itinerary and was not invented or modified during the tour. Payment at boarding is also standard procedure for private charters in our area. Our skipper remained professional throughout the experience and genuinely tried to make the day enjoyable. However, he also felt uncomfortable due to the pressure created on board, including repeated references to military rank and authority. We treat every guest equally, with professionalism and respect, regardless of background or profession. We would also like to point out that, despite the misunderstanding being resolved immediately, complimentary gestures were still offered during the experience, including covering the Capri landing tax, to ensure the tour continued smoothly and pleasantly. Italy is known for hospitality and professionalism, and this is exactly what we strive to provide every day to all our guests. For this reason, we believe this review does not accurately represent the experience that was actually delivered.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Positano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Positano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
