Where was the tour?
This is the first time using Viator where the excursion didn't pan out. I wanted it to work, as I was so excited to do an olive oil tasting in San Gimignano. The overview on Viator description had a bullet point "A private tour for a more relaxed, intimate experience with your hosts". This didn't happen. We asked about the tour, and our tasting room associate said we could go walk around. Maybe I had too high expectations after the great tours we had via Viator in Rome, Venice, Florence, and other Tuscany tours. We left and literally stopped at Frantoio di San Gimignano and had a great tasting. We didn't have the beautiful view, but we had a great tasting and bought a bunch of stuff.

Unfortunately disappointing
This was our last excursion from a spectacular 2 week vacation in Italy. All of our excursions were on point except this one. We did not meet with the family nor did we get a tour of the olive groves or vineyard. What we did get is someone who said these are the 4 olive oils and 4 balsalmics and then given a plate of breads for us to enjoy. She then came back with the wines which were just ok. That was it. From the description we were a bit mislead. This was more of a self guided tasting. While the oils were good, it was not worth the price. On our way back to Siena, not far from here we did another olive oil tasting and for 10 € it exceeded expectations and we bought a lot! It was a bummer!

Exceptional experience
Our wine tasting and charcuterie lunch was an amazing experience! The food, wine, and olive oil were all top-notch, and the views were absolutely incredible. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience even better. Ordering wine or olive oil to ship to the U.S. was easy and convenient. And Rio—the adorable Italian sheepdog roaming the property—was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend stopping here

Lovely afternoon experience with excellent wine & views
This was our second visit to this winery, and we thoroughly enjoy the experience. The views are stunning, food and wine excellent -- and we always ship home!

Magnifica!
Amazing experience! The wine, olive oil, food, and setting were all beyond expectations. Dario provided a friendly and knowledgeable presentation of our wine and olive oil tastings. And I have to mention their cute dogs! My photos capture the beauty of their vineyard/farm and San Gimignano. If you would like a Tuscany tasting experience, include this on your journey!

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Gimignano.
How much does Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Gimignano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Gimignano is not rushed.
Is Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Gimignano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Gimignano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Gimignano and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Essence of Tuscany - Private Wine & Evo oil Tasting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Gimignano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Gimignano?
+
On Outty we rank every San Gimignano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Wine and food tasting in an organic family winery, Tuscan Cooking Class, Tuscany Wine Tour: 2 Wineries & Chianti from San Gimignano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Gimignano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Gimignano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
