We are a boutique receptive agency and our passion is to take care of every detail. Our proposal will take you to a trekking trail that reaches the Emerald Lagoon. From the hotel we will go by comfortable transport to the start of the trail. From there we will take the trail that enters the forest inside the Tierra Mayor Valley. We will cross several turbulence and rocky terrain. We will continue our hike along the Emerald River until we reach the indescribable Emerald Lagoon, a small lake of glacier origin, which owes its name to the color given to the sediments that come from the Ojo del Albino Glacier. This color can only be seen in summer as in winter it will be frozen and covered in snow. While we enjoy the view of the Lagoon we will charge energy eating a box lunch. We can now start the return, where the road will be familiar and we can have the last chance to appreciate the beauties around us. Important: bring bottle water

Rainy hike to the Emerald Lagoon.

On our day of trekking it rained most of the time. It was still a great experience and our guide Mica made sure the path we travel was the safest / easiest. Given the conditions our pace was slower than normal. We walk for approximately 2.5 hours in and then out. The scenery was beautiful. I think the rain made some of the colors more vibrant.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear that even with the rain you enjoyed the trek and that Mica helped make it safe and enjoyable. It’s true—the colors can feel even more magical in those conditions. We’d love to welcome you again for another adventure in Ushuaia!

The standout experience of our South America trip — a breathtaking, beautifully guided trek to Emerald Lagoon

The stand‑out excursion of our entire South America trip. Our small‑group trek ended up being just the two of us plus one other guest, guided by Manu. Manu judged the pace perfectly — enough to keep us moving but with time for photos and to take in the scenery. He was informative, thoughtful and even chose a quieter alternative route back from the lagoon so we could enjoy different views away from the crowds. The landscape was absolutely breathtaking and this really is a must‑do experience. The packed lunch was hand‑made, generous and clearly prepared with care, and we appreciated the hot drink at the lake. Walking poles were provided too, which some people will find helpful. Pick‑up and drop‑off were smooth and straightforward - the driver was Marcio. They’re very clear before booking that proper hiking footwear and clothing are essential — and it’s easy to see why. Walking shoes were fine for us, but trainers would have been a mistake. An unforgettable day and one we’d recommend wholeheartedly.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for sharing such a thoughtful review! We’re delighted to know that the Emerald Lagoon trek was a standout experience of your trip and that Manu and Marcio helped make the day so memorable. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed the scenery, the quieter route, and the lunch prepared with care. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Ushuaia for another unforgettable adventure!

Emerald Lagoon Trekking: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ushuaia.

How much does Emerald Lagoon Trekking cost?

    +

Prices start at $116 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ushuaia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Emerald Lagoon Trekking take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ushuaia is not rushed.

Is Emerald Lagoon Trekking worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 140 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Ushuaia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Emerald Lagoon Trekking?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Emerald Lagoon Trekking suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Emerald Lagoon Trekking?

    +

Around 49 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ushuaia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ushuaia and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Emerald Lagoon Trekking start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ushuaia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ushuaia?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ushuaia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Vinciguerra Glacier Trekking and Premium Floe Lagoon, King Crab Route 4WD Off Road with lunch in Puerto Almanza, Tierra del Fuego National Park – Small Groups. Optional Train. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ushuaia?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ushuaia?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Emerald Lagoon Trekking?

    +

Included: Lunch; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: Appropriate clothing for trekking. MANDATORY trekking shoes, without exception; and Bottled water. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Does Emerald Lagoon Trekking include hotel pickup?

    +

Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 63 listed pickup locations in and around Ushuaia. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is Emerald Lagoon Trekking offered in?

    +

It is offered in English and Spanish. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Emerald Lagoon Trekking?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Emerald Lagoon Trekking wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

The operator notes: Not recommended for pregnant travelers. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.

What happens to Emerald Lagoon Trekking if the weather is bad?

    +

It generally runs rain or shine, so dress for the forecast in Ushuaia. Standard cancellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
