The side walls of the valley are generally steep and often feature rocky escarpments and cliffs, they are of great height and beauty. These walls show the striations and marks that were left by the action of ice and water, providing impressive testimony to the strength and power of glaciers.

The Martial Glacier is one of the best known and most accessible glaciers in the city of Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. It is located on the slopes of Cerro Martial, just 7 kilometers from the city center. The glacier has a length of about 3 kilometers and an area of about 10 square kilometers. The starting point of the hike to the glacier is at the base of Cerro Martial, and from there it can be reached through a path that crosses a forest of lengas and coihues, offering impressive views of the Beagle Channel and the the city of Ushuaia.
