It was an incredible tour...
It was an incredible tour as Gerardo is so knowledgeable about El Salvador’s history! Plus he knew so much about the vegetation and wildlife around the volcano. I would highly recommend him for any tour!
Response from the operator: Hello, Anne! It brings us great joy to read your comment. We’re very proud to know that you recommend Gerardo and that his passion for the volcano’s history and biodiversity added so much to your experience. We’ll make sure to share your kind words with him right away. Thank you so much for choosing us to discover El Salvador!

Great views of the both craters. Lots of steps, but easy to walk. Very friendly and knowledgable guide.
Response from the operator: Hello, Sheila! We’re so happy to hear that you had a great experience with us. It truly means a lot to know that you enjoyed the volcano’s beautiful landscapes and that our guide’s attention and knowledge made your tour even more special. Thank you so much for choosing us and for taking the time to recommend us. Wishing you many happy travels, and we hope to see you again soon!

Worthless.
Worthless. We had one day in Sam Salvador and booked this private tour. They never showed up and it was too late to book anything else. Very, very disappointing. We did get our money back quickly but we can never catch up with the desired experience.
Response from the operator: We’re truly sorry for your experience and understand how disappointing it must have been, especially with only one day in San Salvador. This booking was confirmed very close to the tour start time, which unfortunately didn’t allow us enough time to properly prepare and deliver the experience you deserve. We always aim to provide high-quality, well-organized tours, and situations like this are not representative of our usual service. We’re glad we were able to process your refund quickly, but we sincerely regret that we missed the opportunity to show you our country. If you ever return, we would love the chance to give you the experience you were expecting.

Breathtaking Beauty and Lifetime Memories
I enjoyed this tour visiting El Boquerón State Park and seeing my first volcano and crater! Wow. The miradors had amazing views and also I enjoyed seeing the flowers. The view of San Salvador, the food, and purchased coffee (which I tried when I got back home to my country) from the restaurant were great. The company was professional (nice car, timely pick-up, good communication prior, and knowledgeable and friendly host Gerardo). It was maybe about a 10 minute walk up to the volcano which is great for beginners or those with minor health challenges. I would do another tour with this company and got beautiful pictures and videos (many thanks to my tour guide). What a lifetime memory.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Nicole! We’re truly happy to hear that you enjoyed your first volcano experience and the breathtaking views of El Boquerón. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Gerardo — he’ll be delighted to know that his guidance and knowledge helped make your trip so memorable. We’re also glad you got to take some great Salvadoran coffee back home with you. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to El Salvador!

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Salvador.
How much does El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador cost?
+
Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Salvador usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Salvador is not rushed.
Is El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Salvador, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Salvador can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Salvador and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does El Boquerón Volcano Private Tour from San Salvador start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Salvador within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Salvador?
+
On Outty we rank every San Salvador experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Day Tour: Santa Ana Volcano Hiking + Lake Coatepeque, San Salvador Tour: Devil’s Door, Volcano, Slide & Historic Center, Santa Ana Volcano Early Morning Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Salvador?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Salvador?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
