Waste of Time
Lokafy advertises this is as a tour given by a local- we received neither a local, nor an actual tour. They were upfront to say that if we were interested in deep history or architectural info to book a professional tour guide, we didn’t feel the need to learn the year every important building was built and we love getting to know about places from locals so we thought it would be a good fit. Our initial tour guide canceled a few hrs before, (not a big deal, people get sick, it happens) Lokafy was very communicative and quickly found us a new guide. Unfortunately the guide they found wasn’t from Dublin. She was very nice, we learned she lived about 1.5hrs away from Dublin and initially we were grateful that she traveled into the city to give us a tour, but quickly realized she couldn’t tell us anything about the famous places we wanted to visit. There was a lot of silence walking between sights, she struggled with english, we would ask Q’s and she would smile and nod. We had given her a handful of sights we wanted to see and asked her to introduce us to any hidden gems or places we could buy local Irish made gifts- she took us to a huge mall. At the sights, she couldn’t tell us much beyond the obvious: Ha’Penny Bridge “here it is, Dublin has many bridges” Trinity College “it’s a college, a university, it has a nursing home” Dublin Castle “here it is, there are gardens on the other side. When we got to the Temple Bar area she took us to The Auld Dubliner and said it was THE Temple Bar, we asked why it was famous and she said “it’s very famous, famous people came here.” Any follow up Q’s we had she responded with a different variation of the same one liner. When messaging before the tour about the itinerary, we made it clear we didn’t want to pay extra to purchase tickets to be taken inside sights unless it was an area of expertise for her, that we’d be perfectly happy with an exterior tour… She took us to St Patrick’s Cathedral, walked us right in and a staff member had to stop her with a firm, “you have to purchase tickets to enter.” Embarrassing for her, and for us. We felt like it was a huge waste of time for everyone. We learned way more about Dublin from actual locals we met at pubs/shops who weren’t getting paid to spend time with us. While Lokafy was initially very communicative, we’ve contacted them expressing the “tour” was a disappointment, now it appears they’re ignoring our attempt to give feedback. It was an expensive 2 hrs wasted on our one day to explore Dublin. Hopefully Viator can help us get our money back.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize that your tour didn’t live up to the 'local' experience we promise. It’s clear that despite our team's efforts to find a last-minute replacement, the guide provided was not the right fit for your interests or the city of Dublin. We hear your concerns regarding the lack of local insight and the confusion at St. Patrick’s Cathedral; this is certainly not the level of service we strive for. We are currently reviewing our communication and our vetting process for replacement guides to prevent this from happening again.

Great introduction to Dublin
This tour was the perfect introduction to Dublin. My Lokafy tour guide was Brian who helped me put together a great itinerary based on what I wanted to see plus showed me some other treasures around the city. He lives in Dublin but is originally from my state California. We had some great conversation and the whole experience was like a friend showing me around the city. He also helped me snap some great photos, which is so appreciated as I am a solo traveler. Overall, I liked this tour and the whole Lokafy concept.

Tour cancelled by the provider
The organizer cancelled the tour at short notice (14 hours before!!). He claimed that he had not been able to get a German-speaking guide. And more worse, he could not offer an English-speaking replacement either!! I booked 4 weeks in advance and only came to Dublin because of this! My advice: Book another provider…
Response from the operator: Hello Chris, I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We at Lokafy always strive to give our clients the best experience possible so we appreciate your feedback and we have addressed this with the team so we can learn from it and do better in the future. Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dublin.
How much does Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local cost?
+
Prices start at $28 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dublin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dublin is not rushed.
Is Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dublin Private Walking Tour with a Local start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Dublin?
+
On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway, Dublin Highlights and Hidden Gems Guided Walking Tour, The Little Museum of Dublin Famous Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Dublin?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Dublin?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
