Not Good
The guide was 10 to 15 minutes late, so we left. About 10:15 he texted us asking where we were. I said we were leaving, he asked if he could continue the tour because people were waiting. We looked back we saw him there and he was alone. If he had said, sorry he was late. And sorry that we were leaving. That would be fine. But to lie to us on top of it all is a bit too much.

This was a shared tour, not a private tour. Other guests were booked for the same 10:00 AM departure and were already waiting for the tour to begin. Our guide arrived at Campus Martius Park at 9:55 AM and remained there until approximately 10:10 AM while making several attempts to contact you. At 10:00 AM, our guide checked the designated meeting area. At 10:02 AM, he called you, and at 10:04 AM, he sent you a text message letting you know he was waiting. You then indicated that you were trying to cancel the tour. Because the other guests were waiting, our guide contacted you again to confirm whether you wanted to join, and you indicated that you would proceed. We therefore do not believe it is accurate to say that our guide simply arrived late and then lied about waiting for you. Our guide was at the designated meeting location, attempted to contact you several times, and waited until approximately 10:10 AM. Meanwhile, the other two groups who were booked on the same shared tour met with the guide and completed their tour as scheduled. Our records and the text-message communication clearly document the timeline. We also offer multiple departures each day—10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. If you decided not to join the 10:00 AM departure, another scheduled departure was available that same day. We understand that you requested a full refund through Viator. However, Viator reviewed the matter and did not approve the refund request based on the circumstances of the booking. We respect every guest’s right to share their experience, but we also believe it is important that the complete and documented timeline is presented accurately. We hope this clarification helps future guests better understand what happened. We have screenshots of the text-message communication supporting this timeline. We regret the misunderstanding and hope this clarification provides a more complete picture of what happened.

Detroit Walking Tour
Our tour guide (Kashem) was a very nice person and extremely knowledgeable on the history of Detroit. The tour highlights were great and we saw many places we would not have known on our own. However, Kashem was hard to understand which had us asking to repeat a lot, and he had many long pauses between sentences. We felt the cost was too high compared to other Viatours we had taken in other cities.

Outstanding Downtown Detroit Tour with an Exceptional Guide
This was an outstanding tour! Kashem is incredibly knowledgeable about Detroit's history, and his background in the arts added a unique and engaging perspective to the experience. His explanations of the downtown architecture were fascinating, and he even shared details such as the origin of the marble used in the Guardian Building. We also stopped at several sculptures and monuments, and by the end of the tour I felt I had gained a clear understanding of the city's historical timeline and cultural development. Kashem was also kind enough to accommodate a last-minute tour request, which was greatly appreciated.

Not recommended.
Overall a very poor experience. Guide was 20 minutes late, did not use headsets or microphone and spoke so softly that you nearly had to stand on top of him to hear. We finally made an excuse and cut tour short because it was so painful.
