    Pleasant Douro Valley Tour

We were searching specifically for a three-winery tour in Douro Valley that focuses on small producers for small groups and we did not regret going with Cooltour Oporto. We had the best time with José and we were impressed by his knowledge of wine-making in the region. It was informational but not overwhelming, and the interactions were casual yet professional. The three wineries we visited were Quinta Santa Eufémia, Dois Lagares and Rumo Silvestre with lunch at a former school called Vista D'ouro. We had the best experience at Santa Eufémia and Dois Lagares. They were intimate as we had some great conversations with the owners of the wineries learning about their amazing wines. Both places offer a sit-down and relaxing tasting in a beautiful setting. Lunch was a simple three course Portuguese meal with wine, of course and we were treated with such delights as roasted pork, baked cod with cream and pudim. While it was no elevated dining by any means, it was satisfying after our morning tipple. Rumo Silvestre was much less impressive as the experience felt more like a high-volume winery tour at a small sales centre. We stood throughout the tour and the introduction to their wines felt impersonal and more like a sales presentation. It was such a pity we ended the day with them. Overall, it was a pleasant tour even though the third winery was a let down. We hope Cooltour Oporto would re-assess their partnerships to ensure that the wineries provide a boutique and personal experience. We would be more than happy to consider other tours with them when we return to Porto.

Amazing tour of the Douro valley

Amazing tour. The three wineries were great destinations in beautiful and diverse locations. The wines themselves were also great and diverse. The van was comfortable. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend for people who love wine since this tour is composed of 3 wineries instead of 2 plus a boat ride like most other tours

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you had such a great experience exploring the Douro Valley with us. It's fantastic to know you appreciated the diversity of the three wineries, their beautiful settings, and the different wines you tasted along the way. We're especially pleased that our Three Winery Tour was the right choice for you as a wine lover. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back soon for more unforgettable wine experiences in Porto and Portugal! — Gonçalo Castanho, Cooltour Oporto

    A Fantastic Douro Valley Experience

Fantastic private Douro Valley tour for our group of five. From the start, our guide was knowledgeable, personable and incredibly accommodating. We had mentioned in advance that we preferred drier wines, and the day was clearly planned with that in mind rather than feeling like a generic wine tour. We visited three smaller wineries, each with a very different experience, and never felt rushed. Our guide did a great job explaining the region, the wines and the history without overdoing it, and he kept the day relaxed and fun. This was one of the highlights of our time in Portugal. If you’re looking for a more personal Douro experience rather than a large-group tour, we would absolutely recommend it.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Rob, for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear your group had such a fantastic and personal experience exploring the Douro Valley with us. It's especially rewarding to know that adapting the winery visits to your preference for drier wines made a difference. Visiting three smaller wineries, each with its own character, while keeping the day relaxed and unhurried is exactly the kind of experience we aim to provide. Thank you for making us one of the highlights of your time in Portugal and for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you all back soon for more unforgettable experiences in Porto and Portugal! — Gonçalo Castanho, Cooltour Oporto

Diff tour than purchased. Still a lovely time.

It was a great trip however we ended up being put on the two winery and river cruise because our third winery was not available. The only negative is that we were not offered compensation for the other tour, which was slightly more expensive. We still had a lovely time and our guide was absolutely wonderful.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your thoughtful and understanding review. We're delighted to hear that, despite the change to your original itinerary, you still had a lovely day in the Douro Valley and especially enjoyed the company of your guide. We would also like to acknowledge your point regarding the difference between the tour you booked and the experience provided. During this period, two of the winery partners we normally work with for our Three Winery Tour were unavailable, and we therefore arranged for you to join our Douro Valley Tour with two winery visits and the river cruise instead. While the pricing of these two experiences is normally identical, it can vary depending on the booking platform and conditions available at the time. In your case, there was a difference, and we genuinely should have noticed and addressed it. We apologize for overlooking this. We're very grateful that you still enjoyed the experience and took the time to share such a fair review. If you return to Porto, or travel elsewhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. We would be very happy to recognize this oversight and make it up to you on a future experience. Thank you again for your understanding, and we hope we'll have the opportunity to welcome you back to Portugal. — Gonçalo Castanho, Cooltour Oporto

    Another Amazing Cooltour Oporto Experience!

My wife, Jullie, and I recently completed another wonderful Douro Valley Wine Tour with Cooltour Oporto. This was our second time touring with them, having previously enjoyed a tour in August 2024, and once again they exceeded our expectations. Our driver and tour guide, Alvaro Santos, was outstanding. He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and an excellent driver throughout the day. The Mercedes-Benz van was modern, spotless, and very comfortable. Pickup was prompt and exactly as scheduled, making the start of the day stress-free. We were part of a small group of four couples, which created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The smaller group size made the entire experience feel more personal, easy, and memorable. It was great revisiting two vineyards that we had enjoyed during our previous Douro Valley tour. However, the highlight of the day was discovering a new winery for us: Dois Lagares Family Vineyards. The wines were exceptional, but what truly made the visit special was meeting co-owner Bruno José Balça Oliveira. Bruno and his brother have done a remarkable job continuing the family legacy started by their grandparents. Bruno’s passion for winemaking was evident, and he explained the vineyard’s history, production methods, and tasting profiles in a way that was both informative and easy to understand. The tour also included a wonderful lunch at Vista D’Ouro, a charming restaurant housed in what was once a rural elementary school. The setting was unique, the food was excellent, and it provided an authentic taste of the Douro region. The return trip to Porto was safe, comfortable, and relaxing. We were dropped off just a short walk from our hotel, providing the perfect ending to an outstanding day. Jullie and I highly recommend Cooltour Oporto to anyone looking for an exceptional Douro Valley wine experience. Their attention to detail, knowledgeable guides, comfortable transportation, and carefully selected wineries make for a memorable and enjoyable day in one of the world’s most beautiful wine regions. We look forward to touring with them again on a future visit to Portugal.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much once again, Henry, for taking the time to share your wonderful review here on Tripadvisor as well. It was a real pleasure to welcome you and Jullie this time on our Three Winery Douro Valley Tour. Álvaro will be especially happy to know you took the time to share your experience once again and that he helped make your day so memorable. We're delighted that this experience reflected exactly what we strive to offer: authentic family-run wineries, outstanding wines, and the beauty and traditions of the Douro Valley. Thank you again for your continued trust, your thoughtful recommendation, and for choosing to travel with us again. We look forward to welcoming you both back to Porto and Northern Portugal! — Gonçalo Castanho, Cooltour Oporto

Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 56 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings?

    +

Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Douro Three Winery Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
